Madison assumed the role of Belle in 2004 and has played the role off and on ever since. Looking back at taking on the role nearly 20 years ago, Madison confessed that it "feels like yesterday and a million lifetimes ago all at the same time."
In August, Madison shared that she'd been informed in March that her time on the Peacock soap would be coming to an end, something that the actress admitted both did and didn't take her by surprise.
"Albert [Alarr, the then-co-executive producer] called me the day before the renewal was announced to let me know that they decided to write me off the show again. I asked why they chose me, and he said it was budget-dictated. He told me specifics about how they were going to send my character off, and then I thanked him and wished him well, and that was that," Madison said at the time.
The Emmy-nominated actress said she was perplexed by the show's inability to find meaningful story for Belle, the only child of supercouple Marlena Evans and John Black. "Belle was never meant to be a peripheral character," Madison said.
With Alarr removed from his position at Days of our Lives, it is unclear if the show could alter course and bring Madison back into the fold. If it does, Madison said that she'd be open to that possibility - but she'd also be interested in joining another show where should could play a "compelling character in a fun and collaborative environment."
"I love daytime TV and working in soap operas," Madison said. "I'm a huge fan of the genre. I'd be honored to work on any of the shows. I'd just want to make sure it's going to be a dynamic character that would be featured regularly."
