Adam Caine reprises the role of Edmund Crumb on Days of our Lives

Days of our Lives is about to bring back a character that hasn't been seen on-screen in a quarter of a century.

On soaps, characters come and go. Some come back only to, um, re-go. Other characters seem to simply disappear, never to be heard from or mentioned again.

That seemed to be the case for Edmund Crumb, the ex-husband of Susan Banks. But wait! Not only is the character returning, but original portrayer Adam Caine is coming back, as well.

Caine previously appeared as Edmund Crumb in January 1998. The character was introduced when Susan Banks (than played by Eileen Davidson) traveled to England. Edmund and Susan had a whirlwind romance, and the pair were eventually married. Well, Edmund actually married Kristen first. Think mistaken identity, murder, and lots of other soapy twists. You can get the entire story in our Who's Who in Salem character profile of Edmund. Edmund and Susan moved to England in the spring of 1998, and Edmund was never seen again.

Since leaving DAYS, Adam Caine has appeared in Snoops, >; Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, >; and a handful of films.

Caine returns later this week and appears in scenes with Tamara Braun (Ava Vitali) and Steve Burton (Harris Michaels). In story, Ava and Harris are on the run, and Ava is trying to remember what happened the night that Susan (now played by Stacy Haiduk) "died." How do they all run into each other? Perhaps Ava and Harris follow a trail of br-Ed Crumbs.
