DAYS makes a recast as [SPOILER] is headed back to Salem

It's been two years since Philip Kiriakis was shuffled out of town after trying to frame Brady for murder. Now, he's about to return to Salem.

There's a bit of a change coming to Days of our Lives. John-Paul Lavoisier will reprise the role of Philip Kiriakis next month.

It's been nearly two years since Philip was last seen on-screen. When he was, Jay Kenneth Johnson was holding down the role. In story, Philip tried to frame Brady for his murder, but Kate interceded and secretly sent Philip away to get treatment.

It's been even longer since Lavoisier was last spotted on DAYS. The actor, best-known for his work as Rex Balsom on One Life to Live, appeared as Philip from 2015 to 2016.

Jay Kenneth Johnson first took on the role of Philip in 1999. In between Johnson and Lavoisier, Kyle Brandt brought Philip to life.

Lavoisier appeared as OLTL's Rex from 2002 to 2012. Since One Life to Live went off the air, Lavoisier has appeared in the streaming series Beacon Hill, Ladies of the Lake, and Winterthorne.

Inquiries to DAYS about why the role was recast went unanswered.
