DAYS' Emily O'Brien previews Gwen's future as a potential good girl

With a budding relationship with her father on the line, Days of our Lives' Gwen (Emily O'Brien) has a major reason to stop being so evil and manipulative -- but will she?

Days of our Lives' Gwen Rizczech (Emily O'Brien) has wreaked serious havoc in Salem since she arrived on the scene a little over a year ago, but could her reign as one of the town's most manipulative maniacs be coming to an end?

The character did indeed show signs of softening when she realized that she was earning the budding love of her father, Jack (Matthew Ashford), but she has since gone back to her vile ways by blaming Abigail (Marci Miller) for her recent miscarriage, which actually happened before she claimed Abby pushed her down the stairs. So, the question now is, what is Gwen's long-term plan?

In a new interview with Soap Hub, O'Brien promises that Gwen will no longer be focused on making Abigail pay for all of her misfortunes. "That is over for her. She's realizing that has to stop," the actress reveals. "Her ultimate motivation and her only core objective after the miscarriage is to strengthen her relationship with the one family member she has who she trusts, and that is her father. He's invited her to live with him. That is a tremendous open door for her. She does not want to sabotage that in any way."

The problem, of course, is that Gwen will have hell to pay if it ever comes out that she had the miscarriage before she fell down the stairs. That reveal could dash her hopes of ever having a loving relationship with Jack, let alone with anyone else in Salem.

"That secret is looming over her head," O'Brien teases about Gwen's inner turmoil. "She does start to realize that she's made a mistake because she does want to be able to gain a relationship with her father... She does start to feel some major remorse. She has to carefully and tactfully find a way to reveal [the truth about the miscarriage] without ruining her relationship with Jack."

As for what else is on the horizon for Gwen in the weeks to come, O'Brien teases that another Salemite will be coming into the character's life who could change Gwen for the better.

"[Gwen] confides in this person and realizes how very alone she was. She starts to question her motives and her actions," the actress previews. "This whole thing is a domino effect that in turn makes Gwen realize how many mistakes she made. Ultimately, I do think it's going to make her more human."
