Days of our Lives has reportedly cast Australian star Daniel Feuerriegel in the role of E.J. DiMera, previously played by James Scott. Feuerriegel's previous credits include the Spartacus franchise and the Down Under soap opera Home & Away.
Days of our Lives fans have been all shook up with the news that Elvis "E.J." DiMera is heading back to Salem, and while some have checked into a heartbreak hotel over the devastating news that former portrayer James Scott won't be reprising the role, others have been anxiously awaiting the news of just who the NBC soap opera has cast in the popular leading role. Well, get ready to put those suspicious minds at ease: the lucky guys is supposedly Australian actor Daniel Feuerriegel.
The news comes from Daytime Confidential, which reports that Feuerriegel -- who is best known for his role as Agron in Starz's hit Spartacus franchise -- will begin appearing as Sami's (Alison Sweeney) longtime love this summer.

DAYS viewers last saw E.J. in 2014, when he was shot to death by thugs employed by Clyde Weston (James Read). It was later revealed, however, that E.J. was alive! But how was that possible? As it turned out, Kristen (then played by Eileen Davidson) had secretly injected her adopted brother with Dr. Rolf's (William Utay) now-infamous serum that brings people back from the dead.
E.J. eventually reunited with Sami and their kids, but unfortunately, the big moment happened off-screen -- as did a later explosion that left E.J. severely injured. The character has been recuperating in Europe since that time, so the question is, will he be back to fighting form when he returns to Salem this summer?
A native of Sydney, Dan Feuerriegel acted in a number of Australian television series --including the soap opera Home & Away -- before coming to international notice in the role of gladiator recruit Agron in the series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Vengeance, and Spartacus: War of the Damned. Some of his other credits include Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS: Los Angeles, and Chicago Fire.
