DAYS' Blake Berris recruits Eileen Davidson, Galen Gering, and Shawn Christian for Fangirl

Days of our Lives' Blake Berris (ex-Nick Fallon) has recruited DAYS costars Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez), Shawn Christian (ex-Daniel Jonas; ex-Mike Kasnoff, As the World Turns), and Eileen Davidson (ex-Kristen DiMera and ex-Susan Banks and others; Ashley Abbott, The Young and the Restless) to play diva-like soap stars in his film, Fangirl.

Get ready to experience some outright fandemonium for Fangirl, the upcoming film by Days of our Lives alum Blake Berris (ex-Nick Fallon). The very cool indie flick has just welcomed soap favorites Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez, DAYS; ex-Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald, Passions), Shawn Christian (ex-Daniel Jonas, DAYS), and Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott, The Young and the Restless; ex-Kristen DiMera and ex-Susan Banks and others, DAYS) in some very interesting roles.

As Soap Central previously reported in an interview with Berris, Fangirl tells the story of Mercy (Jenn Tullock), a soap opera fan who decides to shed the trappings of her declining marriage and small-town life by attending a soap opera event in Los Angeles. Hoping to meet the object of her intense affection -- Days of our Lives' Blake Berris (who plays a funhouse mirror version of himself) -- Mercy ends up getting so much more than she bargained for, including the opportunity to finagle her way into Blake's hotel room for a private, one-on-one encounter that doesn't exactly go as planned.

To further bring the story to life, Berris has cast two-time Emmy-winning actress Eileen Davidson in the role of Katherine Close, the super beloved queen of daytime. As the character description reads, Katherine is, "elegant, soulful, and whip smart. And she's not afraid to put her fellow cast mates in their place."

Galen Gering will be playing the role of Ethan Cruz Jr., an extremely popular soap opera actor who handles his fame much differently than the fictional Blake Berris. "Even though he has a sordid past, Ethan has an ease with his role in daytime that contrasts Blake's anxious relationship to the show and whether he should stay on it," reads the character description. "Ethan attends the after hours VIP party where things get wild."

Meanwhile, Shawn Christian has signed on to the dark comedy as Victor Darling, "the big draw at the event" who has an ego to match and "no problem using his clout to seduce certain fans."

Enthuses Berris on Instagram, "I'm a lucky man to have these brilliant cats (and icons!) joining me. Can't wait to work [with them] again."

In order to bring Fangirl to life with as much authenticity as possible, Berris plans to shoot the film verit-style at a real soap opera fan event attended by real soap opera stars and real fans -- which could include you.
