Billy Flynn takes on new project while DAYS is on hiatus

Emmy-nominated Days of our Lives actor Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) is set to star in the upcoming Neil McGowan play Disposable Necessities, which explores a technological modern world.

One of the benefits of Days of our Lives having begun an extended holiday hiatus at the end of November is that the break frees up the stars of the NBC soap opera to take on other projects. Series star Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) didn't waste any time jumping at the opportunity and recently announced that he has joined the cast of a Los Angeles production of the play Disposable Necessities.

Written by Neil McGowan and directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos, the play takes place in a future world where aging and death have become annoyances of the past thanks to a new process that allows the downloading of the digitized soul into another host body, or Module. The only catch is that it is an extremely expensive undertaking, and therefore, only the wealthiest one percent of society can partake in it. Luckily for the Totten family, money is not a problem, but not all of the members of the clan are on board with the downloading practice and its implications. Disposable Necessities is a comedic look at greed and the value of life -- and death.

Additional cast members of Disposable Necessities includes Claire Blackwelder, Ann Noble, Jefferson Reid, and Darrett Sanders. The play is set to open on Saturday, December 14, at the Rogue Machine Theatre in Venice, CA. For tickets and more information, click here.

"Excited to be a part of the incredibly talented cast of Disposable Necessities," Flynn shared on Instagram. "The play is written by @neil_mcgowan and directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos. Flynn took on the role of Chad DiMera in 2014 and left the series in February of 2019, when Chad and Abigail (Kate Mansi) wed and took off to Europe. The fictional pair returned to Salem in November 2019, but it's unclear how long they'll be sticking around.
