Y&R's Eileen Davidson passes DAYS baton to Stacy Haiduk

The Young and the Restless' Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) formally passes on her role as Days of our Lives' Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks to new portrayer Stacy Haiduk.

The entire soap opera world was stunned by the news that Eileen Davidson had been replaced on Days of our Lives with The Young and the Restless alum Stacy Haiduk (ex-Patty Williams), but rumors still swirled about which of Davidson's five (yes five) Salem roles she might inherit. Well, it turns out it might be all of them. Or at least two.

Davidson, who's also known as Y&R's Ashley Abbott, took to social media to congratulate Haiduk on making her DAYS debut. The actress wrote: "Big congratulations to Stacy Haiduk debuting as Kristen/Susan on DAYS this week!!! Stacy is a fantastic actress and I'm sure she will SLAY!!!!"

The other three roles Davidson portrayed on the NBC soap opera were Thomas Banks, Penelope Banks, and Mary Moira -- and though Davidson didn't mention all of the alter egos, it's safe to assume Haiduk has inherited all five.

Davidson joined Days of our Lives as Kristen Blake DiMera in 1993 and added her additional four look-alike roles in the subsequent years. Her work earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1998. In 2014, Davidson won her first Daytime Emmy for her work on DAYS. Earlier this year, Davidson received another Emmy, this time for her work on CBS's Y&R.

Now that Haiduk has taken over her DAYS role, Davidson is all out of roles. As fans may recall, she stepped away from Y&R and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to spend more time with her family.

Haiduk is well known to daytime fans and also has quite a résumé under her belt. In addition to her Y&R role, she played All My Children's Hannah Nichols and has a slew of primetime credits like True Blood, Melrose Place, Twisted, and Chosen.

As for what DAYS fans can expect this week, Haiduk's Susan arrives on Will's (Chandler Massey) doorstep to ask for his forgiveness. Will he cave in and give E.J.'s mom a second chance? Or will all hell break loose? Fans will have to stay tuned to find out!
