Reports have surfaced that the former One Life to Live star will be reprising the role she played from 2014 to 2015. It might seem impossible, considering Serena was strangled by the show's Necktie Killer, but the character is said to be returning either in ghost form (with her spirit supposedly dropping in to give Chad DiMera and possibly a few others a spectral visit) or in flashbacks as the show continues to dig deeper into the Necktie Killer storyline revisit.
Though no official confirmation from DAYS has been given about Archer's status with the soap, the actress retweeted some of the early reports about her return. As it stands, the Texas native's second go-around is said to be short, though who knows what the future holds. DAYS' current head writer, Ron Carlivati, used to write for Archer when she played OLTL's Natalie Buchanan and could have some exciting stuff up his sleeve for the redhead. As for what the actress has been up to since departing DAYS two years ago, she took on the role of Monica Reynolds in the digital drama Youthful Daze and has been working on a new show called Melissa is a Dork, which follows the actress as she explores things from taking a computer apart or lock picking, all the way to getting back at the gardener. Check out a teaser trailer for her new series below and let us know how you feel about the actress making a return to DAYS.
UPDATE (October 28, 2017): Archer confirms that she will, in fact, return to DAYS -- but it will only be for a single episode.
"I loved that it has a Halloween theme," the actress told Soap Opera Digest. "I had such a blast that I didn't want it to end."
