It's official: Alison Sweeney is returning as Days of our Lives' Sami Brady.
Salem will soon feel a million more times like the soap opera that fans love because beloved actress Alison Sweeney is making a return as Sami Brady.
The actress is thrilled to announce that after a two-and-a-half-year absence, she finally has the good fortune to be able to reprise the character she played for 21 years. The exciting move just took a little bit of luck and some recovery from a knee injury she experienced just before the holidays.
"From my end, it takes a little bit of logistics with projects I'm working on," she tells Soap Opera Digest, referencing the many Hallmark movies she has been a part of since she decided to leave DAYS in 2014. "And unfortunately, this year's been hard for me because of my knee injury, so I had to push some stuff back. So, I figured out a schedule, blocked out some time that I had available and we figured it out! I'll be shooting in Salem in May and June."
At this time, it's unclear what fans can expect from Sweeney's Sami when she returns later this year, but her visit is said to be an extended one -- meaning the sky is the limit. As fans may recall, Sami packed up and moved to Hollywood at the end of 2014. She made a brief return for her son Will's funeral and then returned a second time using information from her presumed-dead lover, E.J., to try to take down the DiMera Empire. She has since been on the run after stealing $250 million dollars from the powerful family, so whatever brings her back to Salem must be pretty important. Could E.J. be alive and well, after all? Fans will have to tune in for her return to find out!
