NBC has reportedly canceled the third hour of Today in order to make way for Megyn Kelly, meaning Days of our Lives is safe -- for now.
Fans who worried that Fox News personality Megyn Kelly's move to NBC would lead to the cancellation of Days of our Lives can breathe a sigh of relief. The network has reportedly canceled the third hour of Today in order to make room for a Kelly-hosted talk show, meaning the 51-year-old soap opera has been saved from the chopping block.
Page Six reports Kelly will take over either the 9AM hour from Today's Tamron Hall and Al Roker or will replace Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford when she starts at NBC this September.
Though the news is good for DAYS fans, it's still shaking the waters for others.

"Everyone has been left in the dark and no one knows why there's such a disruption when shows are doing so well across the board," an insider said to Page Six.
Adds another insider: "People are pissed. The third hour was beating every syndicated show across the board. They were in over their head and bit off more than they can chew when they hired Megyn."
Reps for NBC have yet to comment on the fortune of Today. However, major players at the network have commented on the future of DAYS, which will soon face renewal news, as its current contract expires this September.
"We don't make a decision for another couple months, but I don't think it's over yet," NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said during the Television Critics Association winter press tour. He later spoke with Deadline, saying, "We haven't made decisions, but we like that show. I think we will know more in a couple of months. As they age, these shows diminish, there is a lot of delayed viewing and very little linear [daily] viewing anymore, you have to keep looking at that."
NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke seems to be a bit more positive about the sands in DAYS' hourglass. She is quoted by multiple outlets as saying, "We hope that the show [DAYS] comes back."
If NBC does decide to break the hearts of millions of fans and cancel Days of our Lives, Greenblatt indicated that the network "would try to be respectful" and give fans ample notice and a suitable series finale.
