Days of our Lives is enjoying a ratings uptick as 2016 comes to a close, while all other soaps are down in total viewers.
2016 is winding down, but end-of-year soap opera ratings excitement is just getting started.
The numbers are out for the week of Monday, December 12 through Friday, December 16, and it looks like Days of our Lives is the top dog for that time period. The NBC soap was the only daytime drama to see gains during the week, while General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless were all down in total viewers, with Y&R taking the biggest hit.
DAYS managed to bring in 52,000 new viewers for the week, bringing its total up to 2,336,000. What's more, the soap managed to increase its numbers in the 18-49 women's demographic and the 25-54 women's demo, and it was the only show up in the 18-34 women's demo.

CBS Daytime's Y&R and B&B both have dismal numbers for the same week. Y&R was down 37,000 in total viewers and tied an all-time low in the 18-49 women's demo for the eleventh week in a row. B&B tied an all-time low in the same demo for the second straight week and also tied an all-time low in the 18-34 women's demo.
General Hospital was preempted on Friday, December 16, due to President Obama's news conference. This could have affected the soap's numbers, which have it tying an all-time low in the 18-34 women's demo. However, the ABC soap managed to gain in the 18-49 demo as well as the 25-54 demo, despite the preemption.
