A switcheroo will soon take place at Days of our Lives, because Brandon Beemer (ex-Owen Knight, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Seth, General Hospital) is returning in the role of Shawn Brady (currently being played by Jason Cook [ex-Matt Hunter, GH]).
It looks like Days of our Lives viewers are getting two for the price of one when it comes to who's portraying fan favorite character Shawn-Douglas Brady. While former portrayer Jason Cook (ex-Matt Hunter, General Hospital) returned to the role for the soap's recent 50th anniversary, the character's other former portrayer, Brandon Beemer (ex-Owen Knight, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Seth, GH), will be the one who takes on the character full-time.
A rep for the NBC series confirms that Beemer has stepped in to reclaim the role of Bo and Hope's son, which he played from 2006 to 2008. The actor, who has been present for the show's anniversary events this week, will hit the screen in early 2016.
Cook played the role of Shawn from 1999 to 2006. He recently returned for a 2-month arc that coincided with DAYS' 50th birthday, which took place on November 8. At this time, it's unclear whether it was the show's decision to have Beemer play the role full-time or if Cook was offered the part but turned it down.
