Oscar nominated Eric Roberts, who started his acting career on Another World and more recently appeared on The Young and The Restless, and current Days of our Lives star Shawn Christian play immortal brothers ripped apart by murder in Spanners.
Eric Roberts (Vance Abrams, Y&R; Ted Bancroft, AW) will costar in Spanners, an in-the-works project produced by and co-starring Shawn Christian (Daniel Jonas, DAYS).
The title of the project refers to a group of rare beings whose lifespans differ from those of your average human in a variety of ways. For example, some spanners live their lives in reverse, others come alive for a single day every ten years, and some live only six months.
According to the project's website, "There are countless classes of Spanners. Many are harmless. Some are good. And some...some are incredibly dangerous."

Dr. Adam Parr, played by Christian, experiences that danger firsthand. He and his brother, played by Roberts, are both immortal and have lived for thousands of years. When his brother is murdered, Adam must work with clues his brother left on videotape before his death to find out who is responsible.
There's no word yet on when or in what format fans will be able to see Spanners. The first installments have been filmed and will soon be submitted to film festivals. The goal is to eventually launch a franchise with an endlessly expandable cast of characters.
Those who want to get a taste of the world of the franchise now can do so in the book Spanners: The Fountain of Youth, which won the award for Best Young Adult Fiction at the San Francisco Book Festival.
Until Spanners is available for viewing, fans can find Christian treating patients at Salem University Hospital on DAYS. Roberts was last seen on daytime television as Adam Newman's defense attorney on Y&R in 2010. Since then, Roberts has appeared in numerous films and made guest appearances on television series including Glee, CSI, and Justified.
In addition to costarring in Spanners, Christian is also an executive producer on the project, which was written and directed by Jon Maas.
