DAYS fan gets Red Carpet makeover

Many television viewers have often wondered what it would be like to walk the Red Carpet at the Daytime Emmys. Well, one soap fan has received a Red Carpet makeover courtesy of The Doctors. The makeover episode airs on May 19.

One very lucky Days of our Lives fan recently received the soap star treatment, all courtesy of the Emmy-winning informative talk show The Doctors.

In an episode airing on Thursday, May 19, TV personality and author Maria Menounos drops by The Doctors to discuss "Can there be too much of a good thing?" Topics that crop up include excessive plastic surgery, overdoing teeth whitening, and spray tan overload. Sometimes, according to the expert panel, less is more.

To prove the point, Menounos gives 38-year-old mother, Lisette Davila, a once-in-a-lifetime, surprise Red Carpet makeover -- from the inside out.

Davila, who became hooked on Days of our Lives when she was just ten years old and had to stay home sick from school, didn't just receive the makeover -- she also received tickets to this year's Daytime Emmys. She'll chronicle her Red Carpet experience with a FlipCam.

"Daytime TV is an escape," Davila gushed. "The Doctors teaches me how to stay healthy and look better. And, the soap stars have beauty... and glamour!"

The past few years, though, have been anything but glamorous for Davila. She uprooted her family to Las Vegas for a job promotion, but when the economy went south, Davila was laid off. Around the same time, Davila underwent a hysterectomy, and, as a result, her hair started to thin and fall out. She could see her scalp in photographs and it took a toll on her self-esteem. When Menounos heard of Davila's story, she thought that Davila was the perfect choice for the Red Carpet makeover.

The Doctors airs weekdays in syndication. Check your local listings for the time and channel in your area, or visit the show's official web site for more information.
