As summer nears and soaps typically ramp up their teen storylines, Days of our Lives has cut loose one of its younger performers. Taylor Spreitler, who early this year marked her one-year anniversary with the NBC soap, will exit later this year.
Taylor Spreitler (Mia McCormick) has been let go from Days of our Lives. The young actress joined the show last year.
Soap Opera Digest reports that while the actress has learned that she'll be exiting the show, Spreitler will continue taping scenes for the next few weeks.
"I have enjoyed playing such a fun and ever changing character on daytime television and it has been an incredibly gratifying experience both professionally and personally," Spreitler said. "My heart will always be in Salem. Wanted to say thank you to all my fans for your support. I would also like to say thank you to [DAYS] for letting Mia stay around in Salem longer than expected and for that I am grateful. I will be busy filming at [DAYS] the next few weeks so don't forget to tune-in to see how Mia will leave Salem. Looking forward to the next journey in my career."
Working as Mia on Days of our Lives marked Spreitler's first foray into daytime. Prior to joining DAYS, the actress had guest-starred in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Spreitler will last air on Days of our Lives on June 22
