Days of our Lives will get a visit from another NBC personality best known for his work after dark. The Tonight Show's "Ross the Intern" will appear in an episode next month. Known as Ross Mathews in real life, Mathews will appear in scenes with a jealous Sami Brady.
Ross Mathews, known to late-night viewers as "Ross the Intern" on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, will soon be introduced to daytime television viewers. Mathews will guest-star on Days of our Lives next month.
In his special DAYS cameo, Mathews appears opposite three of the show's biggest stars -- Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), James Scott (EJ DiMera) and Arianne Zuker (Nicole Walker). In the episode, Sami is working out at the Salem Health Club while trying to ignore the fact that she's jealous of her husband EJ's flirtations with Nicole. At the treadmills, Sami confides in Chris (played by Mathews) about her jealousy over Nicole and EJ working out together. When Nicole and EJ disappear into the sauna together, she asks Chris to spy on the two of them for her. Chris is more than happy to help out his new friend, Sami, but what he reports back from visiting the sauna is not what Sami's going to want to hear.
Mathews, from Mount Vernon, Washington, graduated from the University of La Verne in California and it was during his senior year there that he became an intern for the Tonight Show carrying out normal intern duties, such as copying, faxing, and getting coffee. On the last day of his internship, Mathews began his on-air career and was asked to interview the stars at the premiere of Ocean's Eleven. His segment was a hit and he became a regular contributor on the late-night show.
As "Ross the Intern," Mathews has interviewed some of the biggest stars in the world and has made the nation laugh all the while. E! Entertainment Television even named Mathews one of the 30 Most Outrageous Celebrities.
