Actress Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) has stunned fans by announcing that she will exit Days of our Lives. The actress confirmed on her official web site that she passed on inking a new deal with the NBC soap.
"Arianne has decided to take this opportunity to venture out and explore new projects," a DAYS spokesperson said in a statement. "The cast and crew of DAYS know that she is an extraordinary talent and although she will be dearly missed, we wish her every success!"
The news of Zucker's intention to leave DAYS blindsided many fans who believed the actress to be in the middle of a multi-year contract. The truth, however, is that Zucker signed a two-year contract with DAYS in 2004. At the time, that contract ended speculation that Zucker's character would fall victim to the Salem Stalker.
Zucker has expressed an interest to move on and find other acting opportunities, though the actress has not ruled out taking on another soap opera role. That has prompted some fans to toss around their own ideas about where Zucker might go next. A popular idea among fans on the Soap Central message boards has been Zucker joining ABC's All My Children as a recast for Greenlee Smythe-Lavery.
Zucker's real-life husband, Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady Black), left Days of our Lives in September 2005. At the time, Zucker reported that she had no intention of leaving the show.
Zucker joined the cast of Days of our Lives in 1998. She makes her final appearance on February 10.
According to NBC, "There are no immediate plans to recast the role of Nicole."
