Another famous name in the soap opera genre, Susan Flannery, was known for her portrayal of the Forrester matriarch, Stephanie, in The Bold and the Beautiful. Stephanie was a beloved character of the daily soap due to her steadfast and strong persona.

She has several daytime Emmy wins in her long and thriving career, but, surprisingly, her first Emmy win came from a different daily soap, Days of Our Lives. She played Laura Horton, one of the popular characters who suffered many problems, such as her struggle with mental health. Flannery was exceptional in her role and deserved to win her Emmy in 1975.

Known for her role in As the World Turns, Elizabeth Hubbard became the first Daytime Emmy lead actress winner for her role as Dr. Althea Davis in the 1963 daily soap, The Doctors, which was also well-deserved.

Hubbard’s character Davies was a sophisticated and refined doctor who came from New England and got married to the brazen Dr. Nick Bellini, who had a contrasting personality from hers.

Erika Slezak played one of the popular leading lady roles in daily soaps. In One Life to Live, she played the iconic character of Victoria Lord for more than 41 years, which helped her win six Emmy Awards.

Slezak’s Victoria was not an easy role to play as the character faced several challenges in the show, such as being shot, s*xually assaulted, having breast cancer, and also having a brain aneurysm. She also suffers from multiple personality disorder.

Laura Wright has been playing the leading character of Carly Corinthos in General Hospital since 2005 and has become one of the fan favorite characters of the show.

She won her daytime Emmy for the role in 2011, after being one of the popular soap opera actresses, as she has been part of different daily soaps since the early 1990s, making her win more special and well-deserved.

Mishael Morgan’s name has gone down in history for becoming the first black actress to win in the lead actress category of the Daytime Emmy.

Morgan was always popular with The Young and the Restless fans for playing fan favorite Hilary Curtis. She later returned with another dramatic role, Amanda Sinclair, that resulted in her winning an Emmy in 2022.


2) Martha Byrne

The talented actress, writer, and producer won the Daytime Emmy for her portrayal of Lily Walsh and later her twin sister, Rose D'Angelo, in As the World Turns.

She was one of the most popular actresses to play the character, and fans loved her with Holden Snyder. She won three Emmy awards for the daily soap, one of which was the lead actress award.

The daily soap queen, Susan Lucci, had to wait a long time before she was awarded a daytime Emmy in 1999, after being nominated 18 times in the same category. Her character, Erica Kane, in All My Children, is one of the most vivacious and chic characters.

Her character Erica portrayed several types of archetypes in the 41 years she played the character, from an antagonist who tried to keep true lovers apart, to an achievement-oriented character who rarely cared about friends and family.
