The shock value surrounding the comebacks of characters in Daily soaps often brings intense drama.

Whether it's one of the comebacks of a formidable villain or the return of a long-dead fan-favorite character, these appearances bring back nostalgia and keep the fans entertained. Over the years, many characters in these soap operas left and returned, adding tension between the existing characters and sometimes bringing back old conflicts.

10) Aaron Dingle (Emmerdale)

Aaron Dingle has had many comebacks over the years in Emmerdale. However, his 2014 return was a surprise to many due to the circumstances in which he left.

In 2012, Aaron took the fall for burning the garage, which was actually caused by Adam. But he leaves for France with Ed before his court hearing. He later came back in 2014 to save Adam again from robbery charges.

He hands himself to the police in place of Adam and tells them about lying to them about the fire in the Garage. He later begins a new relationship with Robert Sugden, which causes numerous dramas in his life.


9) Drucilla Winters (The Young and the Restless)

Drucilla Winters is one of the best characters in The Young and the Restless. She first joined the popular daily soap in 1990 but left in 2000 after her marriage to Neil collapsed due to her giving priority to her profession.

Fans were disappointed when she left but rejoiced when she returned to the soap in 2002. She came back with her daughter Lily and wanted Neil to help her raise Lily. However, the mother-daughter duo ended up helping Neil with his alcoholism.

Neil and Dru remarried in 2003. However, their union is short-lived as, in 2007, during a scuffle with Phyllis, Dru falls off a cliff, and her body is never recovered. Fans still want to see Dru come back from the dead, as their love for the character has not died yet.

Roxy Mitchell died in 2017 due to cardiac arrest after jumping into the cold water of a swimming pool. Ronnie, who tried to save her, drowned with her due to her heavy wedding gown.

Fans were surprised when, in one of the most exciting comebacks, Roxy returned to EastEnders in 2023 as a hallucination when her daughter Amy goes to therapy. It was heartwarming to see Roxy appear to help her daughter in this surprising return.

With many comebacks, Peter Barlow always brought new drama to Coronation Street.

In 2016, he promised his son Simon that he would come back to see him win his Player of the Year award. However, he misses it, making Simon unhappy. He later returns to Coronation Street, surprising many. However, the return turns bitter due to Ken having a stroke in front of Peter, which prompts Tracy to ask Peter to leave again. But Peter doesn’t leave and is allowed to stay in The Rovers.

Cindy Beale had been living in France under witness protection. She was declared to be dead because she changed her name to Rose Knight.

However, in 2023, Cindy’s return became one of the most explosive comebacks on EastEnders. She goes back to Walford and even ends up meeting George Knight, with whom she lived as Rose Knight for many years. Her return brought back nostalgia and past conflicts.

In one of the most heartbreaking yet touching comebacks, Vera Duckworth returns to Coronation Street one last time.

In 2010, when Jack Duckworth came back to his home, No.9, after celebrating his birthday, he sat on Vera’s chair. He then sees a mysterious vision of Vera asking him to move on quickly as the bus is arriving soon. Later, they both dance and even kiss, marking the final scene of Vera and Jack Duckworth.

Laura Spencer is one of the beloved General Hospital characters, and her comebacks are always appreciated by fans.

Her two comebacks in 2006 and 2008 were both heartwarming. In one, she returned after Robert Scorpio and Luke injected her with an experimental drug, LS-49. Fans loved the reunion of the Spencer family.

Later, in 2008, she again returned to help her daughter Lulu when she was institutionalized due to her deteriorating mental health. Laura’s presence helped Lulu in a very testing time in her life.

Over the years, Sheila Carter has had many comebacks, which resulted in her wreaking havoc on the lives of characters on both the daily soaps - The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless.

When she returned to The Bold and the Beautiful in 2002, she intensified the drama in the show. From making her daughter Erica seduce Rick Forrester in an attempt to live happily on Forrester's money for life to kidnapping Ridge and Brooke, she caused many problems in their lives.

In her 2005 return to Genoa City in The Young and the Restless, Sheila again clashes with Lauren Fenmore, but this time, she uses Lauren’s own son Scott against her. She also tries to make Lauren jump off a rooftop but is saved by Michael.


2) Marlena Evans ( Days of Our Lives)

One of the most popular characters from the Days of Our Lives, Marlena Evans’s comebacks always make the fans happy.

After she left with Jack for Switzerland in 2009, viewers were disappointed, but she later returned in 2011 for the opening of Horton Town Square. However, just after returning to Salem, John and Marlena’s life was thrown into turmoil as John was arrested on charges of embezzlement.

One of the most formidable characters from Days of Our Lives, Stefano DiMera’s comebacks always bring bad news for the residents of Salem.

He may have hurt many people in Salem over the years, which resulted in Hope killing him. However, his comeback, when he appeared in Chad’s dream, they both had a heartfelt conversation. Before disappearing, he tells his son that he is a good boy and can be the man he wants to be, as Stefano will no longer stop him. They both hug each other and say goodbye.
