Shona was raised in Wythenshawe on the austere Paul Robeson Estate. Her storyline captured eyeballs when she became pregnant with Dane Hibbs' child at the age of thirteen.

Shona ended her relationship with Dane after realizing he wasn't a good role model for her son Clayton. She raised Clayton alone, with sporadic assistance from her sister.

Even so, Shona found it difficult to support Clayton, who behaved well until his father returned to his life when he was 10 years old. After exhibiting a shift in behaviour, Clayton moved out to live with his father full-time.

When Clayton killed Kylie Platt, David Platt's wife in July 2016, it was clear that his father had a bad influence on him. Clayton was sentenced to fifteen years in prison.

Shona started seeing Nathan Curtis at this time, who attempted to take advantage of her for his illegal endeavours. When Shona realized what he was up to, she bravely stopped the relationship, which left her destitute.

In 2017's storylines on Coronation Street, Shona was shocked to learn that Nathan had discovered her, but she was relieved to have found her real love in David and a job at the cafe. She had no idea that Nathan was seeing Bethany Platt at the time.

Shona approached Nathan at Supreme Tanning after learning that he was manipulating Bethany. Nathan's friends attacked her and left her for dead. Subsequently, Shona was admitted to a hospital but quickly left to alert David and Sarah about her imminent peril.

After calling the police, who detained Nathan, she went to Bethany's aid with David, Sarah, and Gary. Shona told them the whole scope of her abusive relationship with Nathan. Feeling bad about moving on from Kylie, David gave his relationship with Shona, with whom he had broken up, another chance.

David was later horrified to learn the truth about Shona as Clayton had murdered Kylie. He then commanded her to leave Weatherfield and never come back.

However, it was later found that there wasn't enough evidence against Nathan, and subsequently, David gave in to Sarah's pleas that he assist in finding Shona through the legal system.

Shona was trying to locate Lara Cutler, another person Nathan had groomed, so she could assist with Bethany's case when they found her.

The character Nathan Curtis continues to remain a big menace in 2024 on the television show Coronation Street. For Bethany and Sarah Platt, Nathan's presence has been a source of hardship ever since he was released from prison after completing his sentence.

Bethany's suspicion that Nathan was involved in Lauren Bolton's death had led to an increase in the level of tension. However, it was later revealed that Joel Deering killed Lauren Bolton.

Moreover, Nathan was assaulted, which was a dramatic change of events after Lauren Bolton's episode. The identity of his assailant was discovered through the collaborative efforts of Sarah and Bethany.

Initially, Daniel Osbourne and David Platt were suspected of being responsible for the incident; however, it was later discovered that Gary Windass was the one responsible.

Sarah then bribed Nathan to leave Weatherfield permanently with ten thousand pounds so that she could protect her family and ensure that he would remain silent about Gary's assault.

The Platt family constantly fights to rid themselves of Nathan's influence and protect their loved ones from his deceptive tactics, and this plot illustrates their continual struggle.
