Why Thomas Forrester needs to return to The Bold and the Beautiful

When The Bold and the Beautiful's Hope turned down Thomas' marriage proposal in March, fans never expected that would be the end of the couple known as "Thope." Yes, Thomas' feelings were hurt, but when he skipped town with Douglas, we assumed he'd return to Los Angeles soon—and stay.

Thomas returns and takes off again

Thomas did eventually make his way home with Douglas in time for summer, but he was gone again before Hope could blink. Thomas also shocked Hope by announcing his engagement to Paris Buckingham before taking off to Paris again just a few weeks later.

B&B made it seem like Paris and Thomas would have a Forrester living room wedding filled with angst as Hope looked on, but that can't happen as long as Thomas, Paris, and Douglas remain in France. It almost seemed pointless to bring Matthew Atkinson, Diamond White, and Henry Joseph Samiri back for a few short episodes before they vanished again.

The Bold and the Beautiful's Thomas needs his family

With Rebecca Budig bringing Thomas' mother, Taylor Hayes, back onto the canvas, it only makes sense to have both of Taylor's living children in L.A. with her. Now that Taylor has revealed to Li that she is dying, wouldn't she want to be with both Steffy and Thomas?

While it's nice to see Steffy and Taylor bond, Thomas and Taylor always had that special mother-son connection. Taylor's latest death story falls flat without Thomas around. If a miracle cure isn't found and Taylor actually does die without Thomas there to say goodbye, fans would be outraged.

Hope is lost without Thomas

Finally, B&B needs to address the Hope and "Thope" situation. When Thomas and Hope first got together last summer, they quickly became mega popular. It was a taboo romance, considering Thomas had once been so obsessed with Hope that he had "dated" a Hope mannequin that had come to life only in his mind. However, taboo romances often become the most enduring.

It seemed refreshing when a newly divorced Hope told Thomas she loved him and wanted to be with him, but she wasn't ready to marry again—yet. She didn't expect Thomas to run out of patience, leave town with their son, and return briefly to announce an engagement.

Hope has been confused and out of sorts since March, causing her to latch onto Steffy's husband and dream of steamy moments with Finn. Has B&B been biding its time, waiting for the right moment to bring Thomas back and reunite him with Hope? Or is Thomas really gone for good? With Atkinson still appearing in the show's opening credits, it's time B&B brings Thomas home to satisfy his anxious fans.
