On The Bold and the Beautiful, Penelope “Poppy” Nozawa (Romy Park) had gone from living in a small, modest apartment to the lap of luxury at the Spencer mansion—but her daughter, Luna, took it all away.
Poppy is the sister of Li (Naomi Matsuda) and the aunt of Finn (Tanner Novlan). When Poppy met Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), he recognized her as someone he had a fling with at a music festival two decades prior. Bill remembered how smitten he was with Poppy all those years ago, and sparks soon flew.

When Poppy came to L.A., her sister, Li, was unimpressed. Li had already been critical of Poppy’s daughter, Luna, and tried to make her quit working at Forrester Creations. Li wanted Poppy and Luna nowhere near her in-laws.
Li claimed that Poppy had brought shame to their family in the past, and she had not forgiven her sister. Li said that she once had gotten Poppy a job at a hospital where Li had worked, and Poppy had had an affair with one of the doctors. Adding to Li’s resentment was that Poppy seemingly floated irresponsibly through life. Li criticized everything about Poppy, from her carefree lifestyle to her parenting. Li’s hostility toward her sister was compounded by the fact that Poppy could have children, and Li could not.
Poppy and Bill make a new family
When Poppy and Bill rekindled their connection, Li was enraged and demanded that Poppy get out of Bill’s life. Li accused Poppy of being a gold-digger, and Li thought her sister was using Bill.
Poppy’s feelings for Bill were genuine, but her daughter, Luna, had other plans. Luna, it turned out, was a master manipulator. Luna had almost everyone believing that Bill was her father, and as a result, Bill moved Poppy and Luna into his mansion. When it was revealed that Luna had faked a paternity test and murdered a couple of people to protect her secrets, Poppy’s world imploded.
Poppy’s amazing life falls apart
Initially, Poppy went to jail for the murders that Luna committed. But after Li captured Luna, Poppy traded places with her daughter.
While Poppy was locked up, Bill had another test administered and discovered he wasn’t actually Luna’s biological father. Bill was devastated, and Poppy was reeling from the revelation that her daughter was a lunatic.
Bill and Poppy’s relationship didn’t survive. After a long, emotional discussion, the two parted. Each had to deal with heartbreak, and Poppy said she needed time to reflect and heal.
Poppy needs a new life, but not in L.A.
Poppy told Bill that she was going to spend some time with her sister, Li. While having a quiet place to relax and reflect is a great idea, Poppy and Li have never gotten along. Even after Poppy came to stay with her, Li went to Finn and made some disparaging remarks about her sister. The respite with Li could be short-lived.
Once Poppy feels better and ready to get on with her life, being in L.A. might not be her best option. She doesn’t have any close friends, she isn't very close with her sister or Finn, and her daughter is in prison. Bill is trying to get back together with Katie, and there aren’t any other options available for companionship.
However, Poppy could start over on The Young and the Restless. While we’re not entirely sure about her work experience, there are plenty of businesses in Genoa City where Poppy could apply. From Newman Enterprises to Cassidy First, there is an abundance of possible job opportunities for Poppy to make a fresh new life.
What could Poppy do in Genoa City?
If the service industry is more her style, she could be a friendly face when getting a cup of coffee, or she could serve up a laugh at Society or the Athletic Club.
We know she likes music, so maybe the jazz club is more her style. (Fun fact: Romy Park [Poppy] is also a singer).
Poppy might also do well working from home. Word has it that Tessa and Mariah are looking for a new nanny. Poppy could care for Aria and make up for the lost time she can’t spend with Luna.
As for her personal life, several Genoa City residents are friends with the people she knew back in L.A. Sally (Courtney Hope), Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman), and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) know the Forresters and Spencers quite well. Romantically, Poppy could handle someone strong like Adam (Mark Grossman) but is better suited for someone like Nick (Joshua Morrow). Both could use a safe place to land in the near future—why not with one another?
Not that it would be entirely peaceful if Luna were to be released on a technicality or escape from prison. She would most likely seek out her mother, and chaos would most definitely follow.
Is Romy Park returning as Poppy?
In a recent post on her Instagram account, Romy Park (Poppy) hinted at a possible return. The post shows the scene in which she and Bill broke up after she was released from jail. Park noted it was her favorite episode.
Park recently did an interview with JLJMedia, in which she said that something magical happened when she watched the scene when she and Bill broke up. “I forgot that was me, and I became an audience member,” Park said. Park explained that she felt for Poppy because she knew she loved Bill so much, and, as a viewer, she wanted them to stay together.
In the post, Park commented, “Is this the end of #boppy ? Time will tell. Looking forward to Poppy’s next adventure!” Whether or not there are plans for Penelope to return to The Bold and the Beautiful or pop up on The Young and the Restless remains to be seen.
