Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) from The Bold and the Beautiful was once married to Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer), a jewelry designer from Australia, who moved to Los Angeles in 2014. Ivy is the niece of the family patriarch, Eric Forrester. After joining the family business, Ivy became friends with her cousin Aly (Ashlyn Pearce) and was romantically involved with brothers Liam and Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks).
Ivy was in dramatic rivalries with Hope Logan and Steffy Forrester for Liam and Wyatt’s attention. Liam had gone to Paris, where he was set to marry Hope, but Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) wanted Hope to be with her son, Wyatt. Quinn pushed Ivy into the Seine as a distraction, and Liam missed his wedding because he was busy saving Ivy. By the time Liam made it to the altar, Hope had run off to marry his brother Wyatt instead.
Ivy comforted Liam, and they grew closer. While Hope did not want them together, she was married to Wyatt and had no say. Ivy and Liam kissed a few times, and Ivy told him she was interested. Later, Liam accompanied Ivy on a work trip to Amsterdam, and it was there that they first professed their love for one another. Back in Los Angeles as a dating couple, Ivy enjoyed being with Liam but caught Steffy Forrester trying to seduce him.
Ivy and Liam were married
Ivy realized her immigration paperwork was incorrect, and she was facing deportation. Unfortunately, Ivy overheard Liam and Steffy talking about their feelings for one another. Ivy realized Liam wanted to break up with her. She needed a way to stay in the country—and with Liam. Ivy followed Quinn’s advice and proposed to Liam.
Despite his feelings for Steffy, Liam wanted to help Ivy. He agreed to marry her in name only and said they could continue dating others.
Ivy knew that she could hold onto Liam longer by not revealing the status of her citizenship and that her situation had been resolved, but she wanted him to choose her for the right reasons. When Ivy told Liam that her dual citizenship had been granted, she offered him his freedom in hopes that he would say what she wanted to hear.
Unfortunately, Liam wanted out. The pair annulled their marriage, and Ivy rebounded with Liam’s brother Wyatt. Ivy’s feelings for Liam continued, and she and Wyatt were on and off until Wyatt proposed. Before they could make it down the aisle, Quinn exposed Ivy for being in love with Liam. With her engagement to Wyatt over and Liam reconciled with Steffy, Ivy returned to Australia.
Ivy returned to The Bold and the Beautiful
Brewer played Ivy Forrester from 2014 until 2018. In 2024, fans were hopeful when it was announced that Ivy was returning to The Bold and the Beautiful. Both Wyatt and Liam were single and available for a new relationship, and Ivy’s previous tensions with Hope and Steffy could certainly resurface. Some fans even suggested that Ivy might return with a child.
However, Ivy’s appearance was on April 30, 2024, for only one episode of The Bold and the Beautiful.
In the episode, Liam met Ivy for lunch at Il Giardino when she was in town on a layover. Ivy told Liam she thought of him often and hadn’t forgotten their relationship. Ivy took Liam’s breath away when she kissed him. “You know, I think I remember that most of all—how great it felt kissing you,” Ivy said.
Ashleigh Brewer returned after being spotted in pictures of the 37th anniversary celebrations of The Bold and the Beautiful. However, the episode might have been used to gauge audience reactions and to determine if bringing Ivy back on a more permanent basis would be popular with viewers.
Fans weren’t the only ones excited about Ivy’s appearance. According to SoapsSheKnows, Brewer saw potential for Ivy to have a long-term stay in Los Angeles, professionally and personally. “Even though it wasn’t always easy, she truly loved living in California and being in the heart of the fast-paced world of Forrester Creations,” Brewer said of Ivy.
As for Liam, actor Scott Clifton weighed in, as well. “What makes her unique with respect to Liam is that she has this sort of singular experience of him,” Clifton said. He added, “She’s only seen the good side, not the side that Steffy and Hope have seen so much of. So Ivy knows a different Liam than everybody else on the canvas.”
