After a big year in 2023 in which The Bold and the Beautiful's Thomas Forrester finally got the girl, the character has been mainly MIA in 2024—and fans want to know why.
Thomas and Hope finally got together
Thomas Forrester had been trying to get Hope Logan to marry him since she was a teenager, and he even managed to make his dream come true in 2019. Thinking her baby was dead and her relationship with Liam was over, Hope married Thomas and stayed married to him for an entire day.
When Hope learned that baby Beth was really alive and that Thomas had known the truth for weeks, Hope ended things. However, Hope was attached to Thomas' son, Douglas, so she got Thomas to agree to legally make her Douglas' new mom. Hope and Thomas co-parented for several years while he was Hope for the Future's lead designer.
Somehow, Hope fell for Thomas, surprising even herself when she threw caution to the wind and kissed Thomas while in front of the Colosseum in Rome. That kiss ended Hope's marriage to Liam, so she and Thomas began a full-fledged romance.
Hope told Thomas she wanted to just date while she recovered from her divorce, but Thomas proposed, anyway. Hope turned him down but agreed to wear his ring on a chain around her neck as a "maybe." An impatient Thomas proposed again not even two months later. This time, when Hope said she wasn't ready, she finally told Thomas that she loved him. However, it was too late for Thomas. Heartbroken, he took Douglas and flew off to Paris.
Thomas' brief return
Months later, Thomas returned to Los Angeles and announced that he planned to marry Paris Buckingham. Douglas was even calling Paris "Mom." Hope tried talking Thomas out of this decision, but when he proposed yet again, Hope had the same answer—she wasn't ready.
After another rejection, Thomas took off back to Paris with Douglas and Paris, and he hasn't been heard from since.
Thomas fans want him back on The Bold and the Beautiful
Since there's been no official word that Matthew Atkinson is off B&B and his picture is still in the show opener, it stands to reason that Thomas will be back one day. In the meantime, Atkinson is enjoying newlywed life with a baby on the way.
Still, fans clamor for his return and hold out hope that Thomas will return in dramatic fashion.
"Fingers still crossed that Thomas's wedding is the Nov Sweeps story,"@fr33lLi0tt wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "I even want to believe when Ridge said to Thorne that he'll see him soon, it was re: the wedding. Not being a toxic optimist — too blue for that."
@MaryOCo20303275 tweeted they just want to see Thomas and Hope together again, tweeting, "I miss seeing Thomas & Hope on B&B, I watch clips now the time were together, why did writers break them up, so stupid idea and Hope friendship with Finn is so bad. Let's hope, it's now over. Thomas & Hope get back together soon, only that Matt is back."
