Why did Luna cage Steffy in The Bold and the Beautiful?

The tension between Steffy and Luna was born when Steffy shockingly witnessed Luna kissing Bill Spencer. Although Bill turned Luna's advances down and saw her as just a vulnerable girl in need of help, Luna realized that Steffy witnessed the kiss and made a run to her apartment.

However, Luna was followed and confronted by Steffy. Luna tried to excuse her behavior by simply saying she'd been feeling lost. She offered Steffy a cup of iced tea, and before she realized what was happening, Steffy found herself dizzy and passed out.

Luna built a cage around Steffy and kept her captive in the building as it was scheduled to be demolished. While in captivity, Luna confessed to having killed Tom and Hollis and constantly professed her obsession with Bill and how she wanted to live on the Spencer estate. Much to Steffy's chagrin, her pleas for freedom and release had no effect on Luna, who kept her captive while the outside world slowly became suspicious of Steffy's whereabouts.

Luna then shifted the blame for Hollis and Tom's deaths on her mother and let her take the blame in court, all the while trying to seduce Bill even more. Soon enough, Finn's suspicions of Luna increased, and he asked Bill to watch Luna closely. Shortly after, Finn showed up at Luna's old apartment and saved Steffy. Luna was arrested for the murders of Tom and Hollis, for framing her mother as the murderer, and for kidnapping and holding Steffy hostage.

Luna's motives behind caging Steffy

Luna is already portrayed to be a psychotic character on The Bold and the Beautiful, who can go to great lengths to achieve what she wants. In this case, Bill Spencer became the object of her desires as her infatuation for him drove her to do everything in her power to get closer to Bill.

This storyline left viewers of The Bold and the Beautiful divided — some saw Luna as a victim of circumstance, while others viewed her as a growing threat in the Forrester world. Regardless, this shocking twist added another unforgettable chapter to The Bold and the Beautiful, proving once again why the show remains a staple on daytime television.
