The Bold and the Beautiful: Sheila's wildest storylines

The Bold and the Beautiful has always been good at having a storyline with evil plots or great villainous moments when good characters go bad. But sometimes a character can be evil to the core, and on that note, we’re lookin’ at you, Sheila Carter.

Kimberlin Brown is the lady behind the enigma of Sheila Carter, one of the most popular villains to grace our screens on daytime TV. First appearing on The Young and the Restless in 1990, Sheila crossed to The Bold and the Beautiful in 1992. Since then, the residents of L.A. have run afoul of her many motivations and schemes, and some of her acts have looked as if they have come straight out of the playbook of Ethan Hunt and the Mission: Impossible team.

It would take more time than this writer has to list all the many wild and outright shocking moments Sheila has had onscreen, so this is going to be a top-three list of the best, the most villainous and dastardly storylines or moments of Sheila Carter over the last 30 years. Dive in with me as we reminisce over the times we gasped and held our breath or just jaw dropped at what was happening on our screens.

CBS promoted Sheila Carter's crossover from Y&R to The Bold and the Beautiful by saying, “She seduced another woman's husband and stole their child, but if you think that’s bold, hold on tight because the hand that rocked The Young and the Restless is now rocking The Bold and the Beautiful.” That might have been an understatement.

Sure enough, Sheila wasted no time. Immediately, she inserted herself into the life of fashion CEO Eric Forrester (John McCook) by becoming the nurse at Forrester Creations. She gained further access by becoming Rick Forrester's nanny (then played by Jeremy Snider), staging an accident and leaving the original nanny injured.

The Original Sin on The Bold and the Beautiful

Sheila and Eric fell in love and were soon engaged, much to the dismay of Eric's ex-wife Stephanie (Susan Flannery), who believed Sheila to be nothing more than a gold digger and liar. Eric’s' most recent ex-wife, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), was pregnant with a child that could belong to Eric or his son Ridge (then Ronn Moss). Not to be put off, Sheila commits the first of many of her B&B villainous acts: When Bridget Forrester was born, our Queen of Crime manipulated the paternity test to show that Ridge was the father. A security guard caught her in the act and threatened to blackmail her, so she set a vicious dog loose to attack the guard.

In 2022, one of the wildest storylines saw Sheila shoot Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), but luckily or not so luckily, her husband Finn (Tanner Nolan) jumped in the path of the bullet to save his wife, and when Steffy tried to call for help, Sheila didn’t miss shooting her a second time. Sheila left them for dead and bailed fast. In what would become part of the ongoing storyline, she cut off her middle toe and left it in the woods as she made her escape by faking her death. The police investigated and found her toe and incorrectly assumed she had been mauled and killed by a bear.

Nine Lives and Nine Toes

In 2024, Steffy thought it was an armed Sheila Carter breaking into her house, so she stabbed her with a butcher knife. Steffy thought she had killed Sheila, but it was Sheila’s look-alike, Sugar. Why Sugar had plastic surgery to look like Sheila is a whole other story, but the history came full circle. The real Sheila was chained to a bed in a warehouse, and it wasn't until Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) was at the crematorium and Sugar’s body was going in that he realized that it had pink toenail polish on all 10 toes. Instantly, he knew that it couldn't be Sheila. As for the body, it was too late, and the cremation process was underway, but he managed to find and save Sheila, and everyone rejoiced. Just kidding, they were appalled.

What is next for Sheila

Currently, Sheila is a good girlfriend and helps Deacon run their restaurant, Il Giardino. All is quiet where she is concerned…for now. But for Sheila, it is generally just a matter of time before we see her return to what she does best: murder, mayhem, and mystery. Will she align herself with the recently released Luna? Is her employee and tenant Remy returning to L.A.? Will they combine their powers and subject L.A. to another round of terror?

There's a reason why Sheila is the most notorious villain on The Bold and the Beautiful and love her or love to hate her: the role expertly played by Kimberlin Brown. The fact that we all have such strong feelings about her character is a testimony to Kimberlin's acting ability.
