Hope insisted that Carter join the pizza party with Liam and Beth. Carter said he didn’t want to interrupt family time. Hope gave Carter a dreamy smile.
Carter stared awkwardly while Liam played with Beth. Carter interrupted to tell Hope, Liam, and Beth again that he felt like he was imposing on their family time. Again, Hope just gazed at him, smiling.

Hope told Carter he wasn’t in the way, but Carter said he would take a rain check. Carter stalled after saying he was going to leave. He looked at his phone and said he would check on the inventory. Beth asked if she could go with him. Carter agreed, but his face fell when Liam said he wanted to talk to Hope alone. Carter paused in the doorway to look at Hope, dismayed.
Once alone, Liam noted that Carter was great with Beth, and Hope agreed. They talked about how Carter would make an awesome dad one day. Liam said Carter needed to find that special someone to spend his life with.

Liam and Hope joked about their on-again, off-again relationship over the years. Liam told Hope they had been blessed, especially with Beth. Liam said Beth was a living, breathing testament to everything they had been through.
Liam recounted when they'd thought they had lost Beth and when they had found her. Liam wondered if Hope ever thought back and considered where they had wound up. Liam questioned why they had gone through everything they had only to wind up apart.
Brooke visited Eric while Donna was out running errands. Eric asked how Brooke was doing since Taylor was back in town. Brooke was still hopeful that she and Taylor could be friends. Eric wondered if that was really possible. He noted that Taylor and Brooke both felt the same way about Ridge.
Eric said he wasn’t trying to fan the flames of rivalry but noted that Taylor and Brooke both had families with Ridge. They talked about putting the needs of the families first, and Eric said that Ridge cared about everyone. Eric pointed out that although they were still friends, Ridge and Taylor’s divorce had been difficult and had taken a toll. Brooke agreed and said she was pleased that Ridge and Taylor remained close.
Eric and Brooke talked about Taylor as a role model and were happy for Steffy to be able to spend time with her mom. Eric asked if Brooke was concerned that Steffy might try to reunite her parents. Brooke said it didn’t matter, as Ridge was devoted to her.
At Forrester, Steffy complimented the success of Brooke’s Bedroom but noticed that Ridge was distracted. Steffy asked if it had something to do with Taylor.
Steffy noted that she enjoyed spending time with her mom but was worried about Taylor. Steffy explained that Taylor was starting her practice in L.A., but it felt like her heart wasn’t in it. Steffy suggested that Taylor was masking something and using the practice as a distraction.
Ridge got defensive when Steffy wondered if he knew something that he wasn’t sharing. Steffy said her mom seemed different, but she couldn’t put her finger on how or why. Ridge stammered to find a response but managed to avoid a direct answer.
Ridge and Steffy talked about the ordeal with Luna. “What kept me going was family. That was my lifeline,” Steffy said. Ridge agreed there was nothing more important, especially if one thought they were going to lose a family member.
Steffy assured Ridge she wasn’t going to try to force anything or push a reunion with Taylor. Steffy added that although she knew Ridge was happy with Brooke, there was an undeniable bond with Taylor. Steffy asked why Ridge and Taylor weren’t together. Ridge said that Taylor was very important to him and always would be. Steffy said she hoped Taylor would stay in L.A., as she was the heart of the family.
Steffy reiterated that she wanted Taylor around her. Ridge understood and loved the relationship Taylor and Steffy had. Steffy said it felt like Taylor had been walking around with a broken heart for many years. Ridge said that Taylor was one of the strongest women he knew. Steffy said if Taylor needed help, she wouldn’t ask for it. Steffy was sure Taylor was going through something and needed their support.
Brooke eavesdropped on Ridge and Steffy outside the office door. She heard Steffy tell her dad that she wasn’t trying to put him between Brooke and Taylor, but she felt that Taylor needed Ridge more than ever.
