In the design office, Brooke lamented to Katie how much it was weighing on her to be CEO and try to get back the company to the Forresters. The success of the jewelry line gave her mixed feelings and she was trying not to show her guilt. Katie agreed that everyone but Hope was subdued at the launch. Brooke said that Ridge should be leading the company, and the two of them should be together.
Katie agreed that Ridge should be there and said he was part of the team that made the jewelry line happen. Katie said normally, the room would have been all about the celebration, but instead, it was quiet, and even Carter was down and wondered what was happening to him.
Katie said she thought she knew Carter pretty well but couldn’t read him anymore. She added that he didn’t seem enthused about his big career moves, yet Carter put everything in motion. “With Hope’s help,” Brooke scowled. “Whoa, that’s new for you to be saying that,” Katie noted. Brooke admitted that Hope played a part in it. Katie clarified that Brooke was admitting that what Ridge and Steffy had been saying was true: Hope manipulated Carter into taking power for the Logans. Brooke insisted that Hope wasn’t being vindictive or calculating, but it caused so much pain. Brooke didn’t think Ridge deserved to have his company taken away, even if Hope believed she was doing the right thing.
At the Forrester mansion, Zende repeated that Brooke’s energy was way off at the launch, but Steffy said not to be fooled as Brooke only cared about herself and anyone named Logan. Taylor wanted to give Brooke the benefit of the doubt but said Brooke should convince Hope to stand down. Steffy didn’t think there was a chance that would happen.

Steffy told Taylor, Zende, and Daphne that Brooke wouldn’t turn on Hope and reminded them that Brooke was a traitor, just like Hope. Zende said Brooke was more bothered than any of them realized. Taylor wondered how Brooke couldn’t feel guilty if she cared about Eric and Ridge as much as she claimed.
Later alone, Taylor and Steffy wondered where Ridge went and if he was at Forrester Creations. Taylor thought she wanted to clear his head but knew he missed the office. Steffy said she felt ill every time she drove on the property because it was the Hope and Carter show, and her dad would hate it there. Taylor held faith that at some point, Carter would let his guilt get the better of him. Taylor wondered if it was time for Ridge to see Carter and thought maybe he could get through to him.
Hope hovered at the door of the CEO’s office and eavesdropped as Ridge and Carter finished embracing. Ridge offered to help tend to Carter’s cut hand. Carter asked if Ridge understood that he “had to do this,” but Ridge said he did not. “Then know that I didn’t want it to affect our friendship,” Carter offered. Hope decided to interrupt at that moment. “Ridge, what are you doing here?” she asked. “I’m extending congratulations,” Ridge said. “Right,” Hope grimaced.
Hope asked what happened to Carter’s hand, then asked Ridge again why he was there. Ridge said he wanted to take a look at his stuff. He said everything from the carpet to the desk had been his, his father’s, and his daughter’s before Hope got into Carter’s head and convinced him to steal the company from them.
Hope asked if Ridge was there to pick a fight. She noted begrudgingly that Carter still had a love for Ridge even though she thought Ridge had a funny way of showing his. She said that they never wanted Ridge to leave the company, and Carter agreed. Hope added that Ridge and Eric were welcome to return any time but wanted him to know that the “power structure” would remain intact. “So I would answer to you?” Ridge scoffed.
Ridge pointed to the logo and said that his name was all over the building. “So you understand this is all going to blow up in your face eventually, right?” Ridge asked Hope. He added that Hope claimed to love Carter. “Does he look loved to you? He looks like the guilt is just eating him up from the inside because he betrayed his family,” Ridge told her. “Wow, you’re one to talk. Betrayal? Really? When you’ve used and abused my mother for years,” Hope started. She said whenever Ridge’s ego was bruised or he disagreed with someone he’d run straight to Taylor. Ridge said she was right, he did disagree with them stealing the company.
“You should be thanking us. Forrester became a toxic workplace thanks to you and your daughter,” Hope said. She noted that Ridge called her a bitch, and Steffy threw around the word slut when they “all knew her past.” Hope tried taking credit for the jewelry line launch’s success, but Ridge said it had nothing to do with her. “You’re running my family’s business,” Ridge noted, but Hope interrupted. “Oh yes, your family’s business. You love to lord that over us, don’t you,” Hope pointed out. She said she once called him father, but now she and her mom were done with him. Hope added that Brooke also helped build the company with him and Eric, but Ridge insisted that Brooke’s contributions were never ignored. Hope called Ridge an insecure man who couldn’t stand by a powerful woman and said she was glad he ran to Taylor so quickly as it showed Brooke who he truly was.
Hope laid into Ridge about how well Carter was running the company. She turned to Carter and stroked his ego, complimenting him as she raved about the jewelry line launch and adding that she knew the fragrance line would be the same. Ridge watched quizzically to see Carter’s reaction to her words, the same ones he had said to him before she came in. “This is the future of Forrester Creations, Ridge,” Hope said smugly as she stood taller in front of Carter. She added haughtily, “And nothing and no one — not even you — is going to stop it.” Carter looked down as she spoke. Ridge saw it and smiled. He pointed at Carter and said, “You don’t even wear the crown, do you.” He paused, then added, “Ill-gotten gains,” before walking out. Hope lost her smile as she and Carter looked disturbed.
Once alone, Carter looked dejected. Hope told him that they couldn’t let them ruin what they had. She kissed him and hugged him as she cried. Carter looked pensive over her shoulder.
In the hallway, Ridge paced. Brooke saw him and asked him to come talk to her in the design office. Daphne and Zende saw them enter the office and close the door. Brooke told Ridge that Forrester wasn’t the same without him. She said it had been hard on her, too, because no one knew, but she was trying to keep up a facade. Brooke explained she was trying to talk Carter into giving the company back. She said it was the only reason she took the CEO position and would step aside if Ridge wanted it back. Brooke told Ridge that Forrester may have changed, but she hadn’t. She said she was the same person he loved and wanted him to come home. “Just come back to me,” Brooke cried.
