After the kids went to bed, Steffy and Taylor sat on the couch to chat. They talked about how having Taylor live with them and spend time together was great. Steffy knew her kids, and Ridge would hate it if Taylor left town again.
Taylor was bemused when Steffy brought up Ridge again. Steffy swore she wasn’t matchmaking but thought everyone, including Brooke, could see the spark between them. Steffy wondered if Taylor ever wanted a man in her life, would it be Ridge?
Steffy didn’t think that Ridge had with Brooke that he would have with Taylor. Taylor agreed, as she and Brooke were polar opposites in many ways. Taylor appreciated her memories with Ridge but noted that they had both moved on, and Ridge was in a committed relationship with Brooke.
Steffy was certain that Brooke would do something to wreck her relationship with Ridge again. Taylor said she wasn’t standing on the sidelines waiting for them to fall apart. “But, knowing Brooke, it’s only a matter of time before she does something to ruin their relationship. Again,” Taylor agreed.

In the CEO’s office, Ridge flashed back to firing Carter. Brooke came in and asked if he was okay. He shared his feelings and how betrayed he felt. “I just didn’t think Carter was capable of it, and it’s like a knife in my heart,” Ridge told Brooke.
Ridge thought that the affair with Quinn was a slip-up and that Carter was actually a man of integrity, but now he wondered. He noted that Carter was willing to lose the family that loved him to help Hope get her revenge on Steffy and the rest of the Forresters. “He’s risking everything because he’s in love with your daughter,” Ridge added.
Ridge told Brooke what happened with Carter. They noted that Carter counted on Ridge being blindsided. Ridge said that despite everything Carter did, he still loved him. He admitted that he had given Carter a way out but turned him down.
Ridge told Brooke that Carter and Hope couldn’t get away with the coup, and he was counting on Justin to find a way to fix it. Brooke wondered if Carter could see it wasn’t going to work out. Ridge said Carter’s loyalty was not with him or the company; it was only for one person: her daughter.
“You keep bringing up Hope’s name,” Brooke said. Ridge told Brooke that Hope’s the one who put the thoughts in Carter’s head. He added that Steffy kept saying that Hope was getting to Carter. “Little did we know,” Ridge noted. Brooke didn’t think that was fair, but Ridge pointed out that Carter and Hope were in a secret relationship that no one but Brooke knew about.
Ridge noted that it would have been a red flag for Carter and Hope to have let everyone know about their romantic relationship while they were trying to steal the company. “Your daughter played this perfectly,” Ridge said. Brooke was offended that he was blaming Hope. Ridge countered that all he knew was that Hope had turned Carter into someone he didn’t recognize.
Carter walked into Hope’s cabin and told Hope he couldn’t get the image of Ridge’s face out of his mind. “The look of shock and disappointment,” Carter said before breaking down.
Hope shared that Brooke overheard everything and went straight to Ridge, so Carter had walked into an ambush. Carter knew the risk, but he wasn’t prepared. The look on Ridge’s face when he said he knew what Carter was up to took him aback. “I’ll relationship will never be the same again,” Carter told Hope.
Carter lamented that it was one thing to talk about the coup, but seeing Ridge’s expression made him feel terrible. Hope blamed Brooke for going to Ridge and telling him. Carter didn’t think anything was Brooke’s fault. He recounted the look of pain on Ridge’s face and said that, to his amazement, Ridge offered him an out. “He said he’d put this all behind us on one condition: I end things with you,” Carter divulged.
Hope tearfully told Carter that it showed how huge of a loss it would be to Ridge and the company that he would want him back. Carter noted that he had taken a big gamble going against his best friend and the company where he’d been happy. “I thought it was worth it,” Carter added. He explained that if his idea paid off, it would be a massive win for Forrester and everyone else.
Hope told Carter she would understand if he wanted to go back, but Carter said he wouldn’t. “I turned him down,” Carter revealed. He said he didn’t want to be in a world without Hope; it was just their beginning, not their end. “I told you I would never give up on you,” Carter said.
Hope insisted that Carter didn’t risk everything he worked for, for her. Carter revealed he had been fired. Hope gasped in disbelief but Carter told her she couldn’t be too surprised after he told Ridge he wouldn’t turn his back on Hope. He told her that he was deeply in love with her, so he could lose his job and his friend, but their love was more powerful than anything. “Are we taking over Forrester? Are we going to be outcasts? I don’t know, but we’re going to do it together,” Carter said.
