At the Forrester mansion, Eric was worried about the status of the company. Ridge and Taylor assured him that although Justin wasn’t much help, Steffy’s plan should be working any time now, and he’d get Forrester back in his rightful hands.

Ridge shared that Steffy had a plan to appeal to Carter’s conscience, though Ridge and Eric were skeptical of the source. Taylor noted that Brooke had said the same thing and that Carter seemed to be having some regrets. Taylor believed that the real Carter was in there somewhere and just needed to be drawn out by the right person.

Taylor explained that when different people and situations come into someone’s life, they can change their behaviors, but their core beliefs are still there. She believed that the real Carter would come back. Eric and Ridge lamented at how hurt and betrayed they were by Carter. Later, Ridge had flashbacks to times when he and Carter were close and shared family moments.

In the CEO’s office, Hope was buzzing as the jewelry line was ready to drop, and Carter’s dream of a luxury global brand was becoming a reality. Hope thought Carter would be more excited, and as Brooke looked on, Hope asked if there was a reason Carter wasn’t smiling.

Brooke listened as Hope told Carter that he didn’t need to worry, the jewelry line was going to be a hit, and he should allow himself to enjoy the moment. “This is all happening because of you,” she told him. Brooke watched closely as Carter looked at the picture of Eric and Stephanie behind his desk and still couldn’t bring himself to smile.

In the design office, Steffy and Daphne reviewed their plan to shift from a seduction to an attempt to appeal to Carter’s integrity and goodness. Daphne thought the plan would work; Steffy said she needed it to succeed. Daphne said she had a good read on Carter now and agreed with Steffy that there seemed to be a big shift inside of him.

Daphne talked about how successful and handsome Carter was, and she wanted him to get back to the person he used to be, as Steffy described. Steffy noted that Daphne was quite taken by Carter. Daphne admitted it was a personal mission now to rescue him from Hope Logan.

Hope walked into the design office and stopped in her tracks. She took a deep inhale and smiled, asking if Daphne had just been in there with her. Steffy agreed Daphne was intoxicating but wanted to talk business. Before she could finish her sentence, Brooke came in and asked if everything was alright between them.

Steffy said everything was fine, although the current state of Forrester wasn’t great. Steffy said she wasn’t on board with the coup but was there to work. Hope told her that the new power structure was a success, as it would be proven by the jewelry line drop. She repeated to Steffy that nothing was going to change the leadership, so she should accept it. Behind Hope, Brooke looked concerned.

Steffy reminded Hope there would be a success or massive debt, and either remained to be seen. She wondered if it would be the downfall of the company and was glad her grandmother was there to see what was happening. She noted that her father and grandfather were there to watch. “Do you know what this is doing to them?” Steffy asked. Brooke got verklempt and said she would be back. “Brooke, what’s wrong?” Steffy asked. “I just need a minute,” she sniffled as she walked out. “Well, what do you know? I think Broke is realizing what you and Carter have done is wrong,” Steffy told Hope.

Hope scoffed at Steffy’s observation but Steffy reminded her that Brooke lost Ridge over it and was a reluctant CEO. Hope blamed Ridge’s lack of willingness to commit as their problem. She said the Logans were finally getting the accolades and respect they deserved and that Brooke and Carter were quite the team.

When Daphne walked into the CEO’s office, Carter admired her new scent. She told him it was a big day for the jewelry line drop, and she had been thinking about him as she took his hand. Charlie, who had security clearances, was taken aback by Daphne’s scent. He wanted to buy a bottle for a little lady friend of his in Genoa City.

After Charlie left, Carter told Daphne that he was confident the fragrance line would be a success, just like the jewelry. “It will be, but how sweet of a success will it be?” Daphne asked. She wondered if it felt strange to him to celebrate the success without the Forresters.

Daphne told Carter she could sense when someone isn’t being true to themselves. She had Carter’s attention until she mentioned that Hope had him wrapped around her fingers. Carter pulled back and laughed, but she asked him to deny it. “It’s clear as day, Carter. You’ve never been married, but you want to be. You want someone to commit to you and only you. You want attention…love…and Hope’s giving it to you. Giving something that feels like it, at least. Whatever you want to call it, you’re addicted to it now. You’d do anything to make it last, anything for Hope, even stab a close friend in the back,” Daphne said.

Daphne told Carter she knew the takeover didn’t feel right to him. As they spoke, Brooke came to the open door and observed. “Being a part of this is not who you really are, Carter,” Daphne concluded. They saw Brooke in the doorway. Daphne got up to leave but leaned over Carter and told him to think long and hard about what she said. Brooke came in as Daphne left.

Brooke told Carter he should listen to Daphne’s insights as she was right. She said they were behind the desk while Eric and Ridge sat at home. “You and I have something very much in common, Carter,” Brooke said. Carter agreed they had a mutual love for Hope. “Yes, for hope, but also for someone else,” Brooke told him. She said they both lost Rige because of the takeover. Brooke cried as she said Carter missed Ridge as much as she did. “Deny it all you want, but I know you’re crying inside, too, Carter,” Brooke added.

“You miss Ridge, and so do I. How much longer can we let this go on, Carter? Ridge belongs here at Forrester!” Brooke implored. Carter looked torn.
