At Forrester Creations, Zende recalled his conversation with Brooke before she left the building to tell Ridge why she took the CEO position. In a flashback, he remembered how Brooke had secretly told him that she intended to convince Carter to give back the company to Ridge. Hope interrupted his thoughts and asked what was on his mind.
Hope told Zende that she assumed he felt conflicted about the changes at Forrester. Zende admitted he felt for his family, but it also felt great being the lead designer on the line again. Hope gushed about Carter and how Brooke was stepping up as CEO.
Hope told Zende he was more than a number, and she and Carter valued him but knew he was struggling with the “changing of the guard.” Zende said he was walking a fine line between sympathy for his family and why they felt betrayed, and wanting to do the best job for her and the company that Forrester had become. Hope advised him to take some time to let it absorb, but Forrester Creations was under new management, and that wasn’t going to change.
Hope reminded Zende that his family’s company was in good hands. She rattled off a list of Carter’s qualities that she liked and her mom’s. “What about losing my grandad and Ridge and Steffy? What is that showing the world?” Zende asked. Hope said they didn’t want Eric, Ridge, and Steffy to go, but they chose to step down. Zende couldn’t blame them as he almost stepped down as well. Hope assumed Zende didn’t because he believed in their vision. She asked Zende to give this “exciting, new era of Forrester Creations a chance.” Hope patted his shoulder as she walked by him on the way out the door. Once alone, Zende said to himself, “That new era might not last long.”

At the cliff house, Steffy and Finn talked about how blessed they were to have such a beautiful family. The topic quickly turned to her parents and how much time Ridge wasted being fixated on Brooke. Steffy was astonished that Brooke would betray her dad again.
Finn noted that Brooke should know how Ridge would have reacted and that he never thought the company would have someone other than a Forrester in charge. Steffy lamented that Brooke was so power-hungry that she’d probably change the name to Logan and wipe every single Forrester from the building. “I’m going to stop her because this is not happening,” Steffy fumed.
Steffy rubbed her temples and said she needed to stop venting about them and wanted to change the topic. She was looking forward to celebrating Christmas with the kids. She talked about the family gathering for the holiday. Steffy wondered if Brooke’s latest betrayal would bring her parents closer together.
Finn said he could see this situation bringing Taylor and Ridge back together and noted that Brooke and Ridge weren’t married. Taylor said if her parents reunited, it would be the Christmas miracle her family needed.
Meanwhile, Brooke knocked repeatedly at Eric’s front door, wanting to talk to Ridge and tell him why she took his CEO position at Forrester. Upstairs, Ridge and Taylor were making out in Ridge’s bedroom.
Ridge stopped kissing Taylor and sat up. She told him that she never stopped loving him. Ridge poured them drinks, and they began kissing again, but he spilled the glasses of vodka on her when they leaned back down on the bed. While Taylor went to dry off, Brooke let herself in downstairs.
Brooke called up the stairs, “Ridge, are you here?” Ridge heard her, and with Taylor in the bathroom with the water running, left the bedroom and shut the door behind him. Ridge came down the stairs, to Brooke’s relief. She told him she knew it was late, but she had to talk to him.
Ridge told Brooke that he already knew, so Brooke apologized. She told Ridge she didn't want him to find out by watching the announcement and that she had wanted to tell him first about her new position at Forrester. Ridge reminded her she knew how he felt when the company was stolen. “And what did you do? You went over to them and became their CEO. You betrayed all of us, but worse than that. You betrayed me,” Ridge told her.
Brooke told Ridge that she knew it all seemed like a betrayal, but once he heard what she had to say, he’d understand. Ridge interrupted and repeated what Brooke had previously said to him and had reiterated in her announcement about how Carter’s vision of expansion would be great and that HFTF was the best line they’d ever have and needed to be reinstated. “That everything they’ve done is justified — once I hear that? That Forrester should be the Logan playground? No, I don’t want to hear that. I need you to hear something. I’m upset with you! You’ve made me very angry!” Ridge bellowed.
Brooke tried to soothe Ridge by agreeing that she could understand why he was upset, but he told her to stop trying to explain away taking over the CEO position. “This is all for you,” Brooke said with a smile. “Oh, it’s all for me? Oh, ok, I’m sorry, you did this all for me,” Ridge laughed sarcastically.
“Oh, now I get it. You put a knife in my back for me! For my dad, for my daughter?! We build this company from the ground up. It’s our name, the Forresters. It’s not your name! It’s not Carter’s name or Hope’s name — it’s ours!” Ridge ranted some more and warned her not to start telling him that the Logans weren’t treated well because they were embraced and given all kinds of opportunities.
“This is how you repay my dad? He was always there for you!” Ridge continued as Brooke was jaw-dropped. “You betrayed my father. Well done,” Ridge added. Brooke said she could see Ridge was hurt and apologized. “You didn’t stand for me, you didn’t fight for me. You went over to that filth!” Ridge wailed. Brooke asked him to let her explain.
Ridge said he knew already that Hope had gotten to her the same way she got to Carter. Brooke said that had not happened, but Ridge was too worked up. “How could you do this to me? How could you do it to us?” he asked. Brooke asked him to give her a chance to speak. Just then, Taylor called out, “Ridge? Where did you go?” Brooke looked up in horror to see Taylor at the top of the stairs, wearing only a denim shirt of Ridge’s.
“What’s going on?” Brooke asked Ridge fearfully. He stared at her, knowing she was as hurt as he was. Brooke welled up with tears and walked out silently. Taylor came downstairs and asked if Ridge was okay. He said he was but clearly wasn’t, and she hugged him. Outside, Brooke clutched her heart and sobbed.
