Steffy and Hope had a go at each other in the design office, with Steffy telling Hope that Brooke was obviously not thrilled about the Forresters being banished from the building. Hope told Steffy that the launch of the jewelry line that day would be a huge success and proof to all that she and Carter did the right thing. She told Steffy to accept the new future of the company and consider it a little Valentine from them to her family. Hope added that she couldn’t wait to celebrate their success while being in the arms of the man she loved.

Steffy left and went to the Forrester mansion with Daphne Rose. There, they joined Eric, Taylor, and Ridge as they watched the jewelry line drop. They knew it would be successful as Eric was the one who signed off on it to begin with, but as Eric noted, there was no way they’d credit for anything, and Hope and Carter would take it all. Ridge reminded everyone that Brooke was part of that duo as well and betrayed all of them just as much.

Finn was still dealing with the Luna news and trying to figure out how to tell his wife. He called and texted Steffy and told her he loved her and reminded her that they needed to talk about something important.

Steffy and Daphne told Eric and Taylor that they thought they could get Carter back on track. Ridge couldn’t take all the Carter and Forrester talk anymore and went out alone to get some air.

In the CEO’s office, Katie, Electra, Brooke, Hope, Carter, Will, and Zende gathered for the launch of the jewelry line. Ivy was elsewhere but in group chats and checking in. Before the launch, Electra gave Carter a glass heart necklace that he’d commissioned her to make to give to Hope on Valentine’s Day. He loved it and thought Hope would as well.

Brooke told Carter that she could tell his conscience was weighing on him. “You’re a good man. You know what you did isn’t right,” Brooke said. Carter implored that they kicked Hope out and sidelined the Logans. He felt that Ridge discounted his worth. Brooke disagreed and reminded Carter how much Ridge valued both of them, and his friendship with Carter. She said it was Valentine’s Day, and they were both missing someone they loved: Ridge.

Hope made a speech to everyone about where the company was headed with Carter’s leadership. She said that the jewelry line would be successful and was an indication of how bright the future was for the company. Zende reminded her that Eric had signed off on the line, but she dismissively said it was Carter’s vision. “Welcome to the Carter Walton era of Forrester Creations,” she applauded.

As they waited for the launch to start, Will encouraged Electra to be confident in its success. As soon as it began, sales started pouring in. Hope raved that the site might crash. Carter’s laptop dinged with every sale, and Hope was beside herself with glee. Carter looked like he … well, he looked like he lost his best friend.

Hope tried to rally the group to be as thrilled as she was, but there were a lot of side eyes going on. Hope suggested they break out the champagne when she saw the international sales. She credited it all to them, and said, “The future has never been more bright or more fair.” Hope gushed, “I think we can all take ownership in this. This is the realization of the full potential of this company and this launch. It’s what we can do when we all work together.” Hope kissed Carter enthusiastically as she hung off his arm, and everyone looked on uncomfortably. Brooke gave Carter a look, and he sighed heavily.

Brooke told Katie that she felt terrible for Eric and Ridge. Zende congratulated Electra, and Ridge sent a text to her and Ivy saying the same. She read it out loud and everyone looked a little sad, except Hope. Zende told Electra it was a huge success for her and the family name, which was important to remember.

Charlie came in with an armload of flowers and said they were from the international office as congratulations for a successful drop day. He struggled to put them down and said the vase was as awkward as the vibe in the room. Hope cleared the room by saying, “We should all be proud of all of our hard work, but since we seem to be skipping the champagne, I’d like a few minutes with our fearless leader.” She asked Charlie to shut the door behind him.

Will and Electra went to the salon and celebrated Valentine’s Day and her successful launch. In the design office, Brooke told Katie and Zende that she thought Carter was having remorse and missing his best friend.

Once alone in the CEO’s office, Hope was upset and asked Carter what the problem was. “What’s going on? You did it! We…I mean you…had a vision for Forrester Creations, and it’s happening.” Carter sighed and said, “Yeah, it’s happening without Eric, Steffy, and Ridge.”

Carter admitted he never thought he’d be in this position. The jewelry line’s launch was successful, but Ridge wasn’t part of it, and it didn’t feel right. Hope tried to change his mind, reminding him he was a good man who missed his friend, so it was understandable that he would feel that way. She told him that he dared to dream big, which was something that Ridge was too scared to do.

Hope told Carter that he should allow himself to celebrate his success. Carter agreed that they had righted the ship and they led some things, and she was right, they had done some good. He perked up and said, “Maybe this is our opportunity! Maybe this is our chance to go out on top!”

Hope couldn’t understand where Carter was headed with these thoughts. He explained that he wanted to celebrate, but he was having a hard time. “I tricked them,” he said of getting Ridge and Steffy to sign the LLC papers. He called it underhanded and thought they'd be happy if he showed them the books and apologized. “Apologize? You want me to apologize to Ridge and Steffy after everything they’ve done to humiliate me and insult me? No! No, Carter, no!” Hope cried.

Carter walked to the desk and opened the drawer. “This is Eric’s stapler! This is his office. His desk. His chair! It’s not mine!” he started crying as he called himself a traitor. Hope yelled at him to stop. She told him what he did was heroic, and he saved her. “There’s nothing heroic about what I did, and I don’t think I can go on like this. I don’t think I can live with myself,” Carter cried. He begged Hope to think about it, noting that they had proven themselves and they could step aside now.

Hope raged that he promised to have her back and stand by her. Carter told her he has and still will. He said he loved her and didn’t want to fight with her on Valentine’s Day. “Look, I got you something,” Carter said as he reached for the jewelry box. “Oh my god, now is not the time for that!” Hope screeched. She told Carter that she — and they — could not go back to the way things were. Hope stormed out, and Carter was left holding the glass heart necklace. He looked around the desk at the pictures of Eric and Ridge and sobbed. He pounded the desk, then opened his hand and saw that he’d cut his palm while crushing the heart.

As he sat on the desk and stared at his bloody hand and the broken necklace, he cried. He heard someone say, “Heavy is the head that wears the crown, Carter.” Carter turned and saw Ridge in the doorway.
