There's a reason that The Bold and the Beautiful's Scott Clifton has multiple Emmys under his belt after more than 20 years of gracing our daytime screens — he's really, really good at what he does.

Liam Spencer is a very unique character with all sorts of quirks who Scott Clifton seems to know as well as he knows himself. After 15 years of bringing Liam to life on B&B, Clifton knows Liam inside and out. In interviews, he's made it clear that sometimes he knows Liam can sometimes be a louse, but he can also be quite lovable — just ask Hope (Annika Noelle) and Steffy (Jacquleine MacInnes Wood).

This past week, Clifton gave us some insight into Liam we haven't seen in quite a while. The character has been practically MIA since late 2023, so we don't know much about what he's been doing or feeling since the day he accepted that Hope was with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and his marriage was really and truly over. Sure, he kissed Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) out of nowhere one day and made a video touting Hope's virtues, but that's been about it — until now.

Liam's The Bold and the Beautiful reckoning

Surpisingly, Liam was truly broken after learning that his father let a serial killer live with him for months and even got her pardoned. Liam was stunned that Bill (Don Diamont) would do such a dangerous thing and had no problem going off. What he didn't expect was for Bill to defend himself and give as good as he got, which was just what happened.

As Liam and Bill battled it out, we felt bad for Liam for the first time in a long time, all thanks to Clifton knowing this character inside and out. We felt Liam's disillusionment, pain, and bewilderment, as if he didn't even know who his father was anymore. Liam wondered if he ever really knew Bill at all.

Liam also had to hear some truth bombs from Bill. The looks on Liam's face as Bill hurled those bombs right at him were classic Clifton. We could see him absorbing everything Bill was saying, part of him in denial and part of him knowing Bill was absolutely right.

By the time Liam was on the floor out cold, we knew everything he'd been feeling since the day he saw Hope kiss Thomas in front of the Roman Colosseum. And that's because Scott Clifton is really, really good at his job.
