The Bold and the Beautiful and the week that was. We have paternity tests and Paris's high exalted nose, and let's not forget about Taylor and Ridge. Actually, yes, let's forget about them.

The Bold and the Beautiful: I smell…trouble

Ok, soap fans, let's get it out of the way first: Taylor loves Ridge, and Ridge says he loves Taylor. Ridge loves Brooke? Probably. This love triangle may as well be a Bermuda triangle — none of them ever escape it. Not much has changed on that front on The Bold and the Beautiful and having that part take a back seat is okay. Fans and viewers alike need a break or at least a pit stop. So, without further gilding the lily, let's move on to…The boardroom.

Carter and Hope are simply gushing over the fact Daphne Nose has decided to put her most unique and valued talents into Forrester Creations. And who wouldn't be, right? The self-proclaimed “Nose of Paris” breezed in and overtook egos, making Hope and Carter think that Carter’s expansion plan was a success before she even signed the contract. Hope couldn't have done any background checking, or else the fact that she is best buds with Steffy may have come up. Daphne and Steffy are supposedly both well-known industry influencers; wouldn’t they have been seen somewhere together before? Regardless, there’s a scent in the air that’s causing a bit of a stink about the place, but the only thing that can really be smelt is trouble.

Ridge (of all people) has told Steffy he’d like her to “keep it clean” with her Operation: Scarf Wave but Steffy nose best, and she is determined to come up smelling of roses. Her plan is simple, as some of the best plans are. Remember that old acronym KISS? Keep It Simple, Stupid. Well, this is exactly the plan: Kiss. Daphne has ramped up the charm offensive, and I'm amazed Hope hasn't noticed yet, with Carter practically levitating whenever Daphne looks at him.

The hope is that Carter won't be able to help himself (pun not even intended, but convenient). Is this a dig at guys in general not being able to resist the charms of some ooh-la-la style of flirtation? I think we’re good. Ladies, trust me when I say your man wouldn’t be falling for that. Carter, on the other hand, the male version of Hope on The Bold and the Beautiful, seems already all in. It’s like you can hear his thoughts when Daphne looks at him: “Oooooh, someone is giving me attention. I must fight it…but she has eau de cologne on…I can’t resist…Oh well, I guess she should feel my pecs through my suit jacket then.”

Carter really is an easy mark. After all, he went from wanting to axe Hope For The Future to “The poor, downtrodden Logans need a hero” faster than a greased weasel (Disclaimer: no weasels were injured in the making of this Two Scoops).

So now that Daphne has Carter right where she wants him, with her fingers on his chest, eyes locked on her, pulse racing, and pupils dilated. It won't be long before one or the other initiates a kiss. And since Brooke hasn't understood what closed doors or knocking means in her 35+ years on the show, it will likely be her walking in on Carter in his lingerie on top of Daphne in the design office, or did I get that backward? Once Brooke has her peepers locked on that sight, will she smell a rat? Or follow her own claims of innocence over the years and tell Hope that you can’t help who you love. But Carter fans rejoice: If Steffy’s plan works, Carter will have the fun of falling in love once again — his favorite hobby!

And the father is…

But nothing is ever simple on The Bold and the Beautiful, as we will see as we move on to the next part of this deux scoops. With Poppy going to the prison to visit her daughter and finding she isn't there, will the warden tell her he handed her daughter over to Bill Spencer? Bill keeps telling Luna that no one can know she’s there…but did the warden get sworn to secrecy? Liam and Will have already been suspicious about how cagey their father is whenever they come around unannounced and find the door locked for the first time in forever. Bill has been getting to know Luna better and finding out that (surprise!) she really is a kindred spirit but without the murderous intent, of course. But Bill has tried to vicariously injure Ridge on several occasions — and that shake-him-out-of-a-helicopter plan was killer.

While we are talking about having things in common, how about some DNA? It's been all the rage for the last two weeks on The Bold and the Beautiful to be running paternity tests. Luna knows Tom Starr isn't her father, nor is the lord of the manor Bill Spencer. Li has even summoned her ex-husband so she could jab him with a needle and get a sample of his blood. After accusing Jack of sleeping with Poppy under her roof, it turned out that the paternity test showed that Jack didn't actually do jack.

Ok, Poppy, who did it? Inquiring minds want to know — including Finn! Dun dun dunnnn. If only they’d read the message boards and seen we kinda knew that a year ago, maybe Finn wouldn’t look so distressed. So Poppy and Finn have a heart-to-heart, and suddenly, memories have come flooding back to a one-night-something they had many years ago. The timing adds up, but Poppy tries to convince Finn that Luna isn't his child.

Finn finally remembers that Luna’s blood is floating around the hospital lab for no reason whatsoever. Hopefully, Tom’s liver has finally been disposed of or sent to the Smithsonian by now. Finn freaks out poor April, who is wondering why the Finnegans are so much alike and decides to run his own paternity test on himself.

Now, let’s break this down. If Finn is Luna’s father, then Jack would have shown up in the DNA test that Li ran, it just would have been a lesser amount as he would be the grandfather and not the father. So, his not being a DNA match for Luna could only mean one thing….which means five things in The Bold and the Beautiful. But we’ll stick with real-time for a moment. If Finn is Luna’s father, then Jack must not be Finn’s father; otherwise, his DNA would match Luna’s, too. If we’re not going that route in this storyline, then Ancestry.com would like a word.

But if that’s the case, then Sheila’s got some explaining to do, and then we have to ask yet again, who’s the daddy, because Finn would have an identity crisis on the horizon. And don’t even get me started with how Li would react. This is getting more twisty than a twisty thing, and it's just convoluted enough to be probable on The Bold and the Beautiful.

On the flip side, If Finn is the father, that makes Sheila Luna's grandmother, and wow, things start to make a lot more sense then, a little dash of hereditary crazy and stir it all up and et voila…Luna. Steffy may not react well to find out that Finn is the father of Luna. That would make Sheila her mother-in-law and Luna her stepdaughter…holiday dinners just got more interesting. Out with the Logans and in with the Finnegans, Nozawas, and Carters? From being Bill’s houseguest to wanting Will to find out who her father really is and possibly unveiling another paternity issue, Luna went from being disowned in prison to secretly living in a mansion but being the center of nearly everyone — whether they know it or not. On The Bold and the Beautiful, anything is possible.

And if you thought Sheila was excited to gain a son, just imagine how she’ll be with a mini-me granddaughter!

Til next time, soap fans.

Wow, you made it all the way to the end? You deserve a prize!... Just kidding, leave a comment instead.
