This week on The Bold and the Beautiful, Dr. Hayes doesn’t believe in medicine, Bill doesn’t believe his ears, and Will can’t believe his luck.

The Doctor is in…shock

Taylor can’t believe it. Just when you think you’re dying, some specialist comes along and squeezes you in immediately, runs a quick test, and gets your results the same day. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they have the nerve to tell you that you’re not dying. What is wrong with this world?

Taylor thought she only had a few months to live, but it turns out she could be around for decades, but only if she mends that broken heart.

But Taylor is in denial. First of all, she doesn’t believe in the diagnosis. “Broken heart syndrome” sounds ridiculous, she says. It’s a fake diagnosis with a stupid name. How dare anyone accuse her of having it? It was just embarrassing, she said.

Having broken heart syndrome implies that Taylor has no life. It infers she pines for Ridge. What was that suggestive look that Ridge just gave her? Oh, the ego on that man!

Taylor humbly blasted Ridge and Dr. Buckingham, saying she was an expert in her field and well above being like one of her patients. How could she, the psychiatrist who listened to other people talk about their feelings, have her own feelings? It was absolutely absurd.

Clearly, Taylor didn’t get the memo that is passed around L.A. every time she comes to town. For about 30 years, Taylor has been described as someone who will “always love Ridge.” There isn’t one Forrester or Logan who hasn’t had “that” conversation. You know the one. We’ve been hearing it for a couple of weeks (read: years), and even Bill Spencer said it today. The “Taylor’s-back-should-Brooke-be-worried” conversation.

Nobody is ever concerned that Ridge will drop everything and go running to sweep Taylor off her feet. Every person of every age in every corner of L.A. knows that Taylor loves Ridge. Everyone knows it, and they know that if given the chance, Taylor would take Ridge back in a heartbeat.

Maybe it’s the word “pining” that sets Taylor off. Maybe she would prefer “holds a torch for” or “blatantly drools over.” She may think she’s hiding her feelings, but when Ridge walks into the room, Taylor looks like Hope when Finn’s nearby.

Nothing to see here

Speaking of Hope, things got a little weird. With her eyes following Finn around, Hope never noticed that Carter had her on his mind.

According to Carter, the Forrester COO, the numbers for Hope for the Future have been down. Way down. So down that the line was almost canceled.

Chances are pretty good that part of the problem is that Hope isn’t focused on work. She’s been lusting after Steffy’s husband, showing up at his work, being an impromptu bridesmaid at a killer’s wedding, and getting head massages.

Instead of advising Hope professionally, Carter thinks a step in the right direction would be to distract Hope even more and get her to piggyback on the success of Brooke’s Bedroom.

Carter doesn’t suggest following the business plan for the other line or analyzing why the marketing or products are doing better. He has a much better idea.

Carter suggests that Hope put on her mom’s lingerie. You know, like he’s been fantasizing about. Hope thinks it’s a great idea, and they both immediately share stories about mutual friends that they’ve had sex with.

The Stand In

Before we get to her response, let’s recap Bill's proposition to Katie last week. Not only was it not romantic (hence “proposition” rather than “proposal”), but he summoned her to come to him so he could pitch the idea to her. He didn’t go out of his way to make any type of effort; he just called her over, they sat in separate chairs, and Bill suggested they get back together.

Bill’s reasoning was alarming. He said that Katie had always been there for him, which is true but rather one-sided. He insisted he wasn’t rebounding after Poppy, but Katie literally passed her in the foyer last week.

Sure, Bill said he wasn’t blaming Katie, but he told her if she had taken him back the last time he asked, the whole Poppy/Luna fiasco wouldn’t have happened. What a charmer.

As for the reuniting their family pitch, come on, Bill. He blatantly used his son’s visit to convince Katie to get back together. At the time, Will hadn’t even decided to transfer back to L.A. yet. So, claiming they could get back together for Will’s sake was just using Katie’s weak spot.

Katie’s mic drop

Now, for Katie’s response. For those who missed it, Katie let Bill gush about all the reasons they shouldn’t reunite and then told him straight up that she’d given it a lot of thought and noped out.

She told Bill that he left her for her sister more than once. “I’m sorry Brooke isn’t available, and Poppy wasn’t the dream girl that you built her up to be from that one night 20 years ago,” Katie said without a hint of sarcasm.

Katie finished by telling Bill that she wouldn’t be a stand-in for Brooke or Poppy. She reminded him that his son was old enough to make him a grandfather and didn’t care if mommy and daddy would show up at holiday dinners together.

I’m not sure if it was Katie’s mic dropping to the floor or Bill’s jaw, but she ignored the audible thud, walked confidently out the door, and got on with her life.

Dollar Bill bounces back

For a second, we may have wondered what Bill would do next. He stared at some pictures of baby Will and wondered when he grew up, and then Brooke showed up.

The fact that she, of all people, would knock on his door at a moment like that, stuns Bill. He’s speechless. He can’t believe it. Katie just told him that Brooke was the actual love of his life, and here she is. It’s a sign, right?

No, it’s not. It’s a scheduled meeting that Bill forgot about.

Of course, if you’re going to have a business meeting, you wouldn’t have it at the office. That’s just silly. And when your meeting is with your ex-lover who just got dumped by your sister because of your multiple affairs, you should definitely have that meeting in his home. Especially when the meeting is to discuss your resurrected lingerie line. The same line that, when resurrected years ago, was how and when you had an affair with your sister’s husband. But, I digress.

So, Bill does the thing that Katie loves the most and tells Brooke all about his private conversation with Katie and shares her innermost feelings. “She doesn’t want you because of me?” Brooke asks. “Yeah, I can’t believe it, she still thinks about that,” Bill said. “She doesn’t want you because of me?” Brooke asks again. “Yep, dumped me. Hardcore,” Bill says. “But…about me? That’s why she doesn’t want you? Because of me?” Brooke repeats and bats her eyes. “Because of us,” Bill sighs.

Brooke, of course, implies that Katie doesn’t know how good she has it with someone like Bill wanting her. Brooke promised to condescendingly remind her sister to take what she can get and convince her to open her eyes. Bill thinks Brooke is just the best. Bill thanked her for listening and admitted he knows how hard it is for people other than Brooke to see his greatness.

Elsewhere in L.A.

Will decided to transfer schools and move back to L.A. He said he wanted to be around to look after his mom and ensure she didn’t go back to Bill. Katie suggested he become an intern at Forrester, even though he didn’t think he was into fashion. Watching Crew Morrow’s smile get bigger every time a model flirted with him was hilarious.

Hope told Steffy she wanted to go back to being her old self again, or the version of herself that didn’t go after her stepsister's husband. Steffy compared Hope to her mom then oddly said Taylor was better because she was a psychiatrist and Hope’s mom was just a lingerie model. It was an odd perspective for a CEO who is surrounded by models who make her company successful—and someone who was a lingerie model herself!

Until next time!
