At Eric’s house, Donna told Brooke and Eric that she felt as if everything had been her fault because she’d been the one to introduce Luna into their lives. As the three discussed what had happened, Brooke flashed back to the conversation about peace she’d had with Taylor. Donna snapped Brooke out of it, asking what was going on. Brooke said she’d had an interesting discussion with Taylor, and "this time," she and Taylor might truly become friends.
Eric and Donna assumed it was possible, and Donna quipped that it would be a cinch compared to when Stephanie had befriended Brooke in the end. Eric asked how it had come about. Brooke explained that Taylor understood Brooke and Ridge were a couple and that Taylor was there to spend time with her family. Donna asked if Brooke really didn’t think Taylor wanted Ridge.
Knowing Ridge’s feelings for Brooke, Eric didn’t see it as a concern. Brooke didn’t, either. She sensed something different about Taylor, and she felt a change in herself, too. Brooke was confident of her place in Ridge’s heart.
Donna still questioned the possibility of a friendship. Brooke believed that she and Taylor had a lot in common. “Ridge,” Eric remarked. Brooke said she and Taylor shared a love for their families. Eric asked if that was enough to maintain a friendship. Brooke believed so. He figured Brooke also believed Taylor would be staying in town. Donna and Eric thought Steffy could use her mother after everything she’d been through. Eric said Taylor would be good for them all.

In Eric’s office, Steffy looked at Ridge, saying they just needed the right person to convince Taylor to stay in town. Ridge assumed Steffy was talking about him. She said she knew he could do it. Ridge agreed to talk to Taylor and try to convince her to stay. Steffy thanked Ridge and said she didn’t want to be away from her parents anymore. Ridge and Steffy talked about having Taylor close, and Steffy said a girl needed her mama.
Ridge knew the feeling. He missed his mother, too. He didn’t know how long Stephanie had been gone, but the feeling didn’t change, no matter how old one got. He noted that Taylor hadn’t said anything about leaving. Steffy said Taylor lifted them up, and she didn’t know what she’d do without Taylor. Steffy didn’t want to waste another moment.
Later, after Steffy had gone, Ridge was with Brooke, who he asked to never leave his side for a few hours again. Brooke revealed that she and Taylor had had a good talk earlier about family, and Brooke had asked if they could be friends. “Because that worked so well the last time,” he quipped. Brooke stated her belief that it would work this time.
Ridge was glad to hear it. He wanted the important women in his life to get along, and he mentioned that it might help Taylor stay in town. He added that Steffy needed her mother.
At the cliff house with Li, Taylor explained that she’d neglected her symptoms, passing them off as signs of aging. When she'd experienced fatigue, shortness of breath, and chest pains, she'd gone to see a doctor and learned that her heart was failing. She claimed to be dying. Taylor hadn’t seen a cardiologist yet because, as soon as her doctor had told her, she'd returned to be with her family.
Li offered to run some tests and refer Taylor to some of her top colleagues. Taylor thanked Li and said time was running out; that was her reality. Li texted Taylor a list of doctors and promised to get her in with someone right away. Taylor admitted that her symptoms were becoming harder to hide. Li said she hadn’t noticed the illness, but she didn’t understand the point of hiding it. Taylor didn’t want anyone to know and told Li that no one could find out—no one.
Taylor wanted to have her family around her while she went through it, but she said it was important not to scare them. Li tried to convince Taylor that her family loved her and would want to support her, but Taylor insisted on keeping silent. Li agreed to abide by Taylor’s wishes but still believed she should reveal the truth. Taylor, however, hadn’t come to town to burden her family. Li asked Taylor to keep an open mind as things progressed.
Taylor knew it could easily slip away. She wanted to face it as she faced everything—with as much strength and dignity as she could muster.
Later, alone, Taylor sadly gazed at family photos. She thought about telling Li that she was dying. Steffy arrived, and Taylor wiped away tears. Steffy noticed that something was wrong. Taylor played it off, but Steffy said Taylor could tell her anything.
