T'was just a kiss: The Bold and the Beautiful Two Scoops for the week of Feb 24th

On The Bold and the Beautiful, it's another week of slow movement in some of the storylines, soap fans, but we do have some drama and tension in my two favorite areas. Let's dive into the week that was and was not.

The Bold and the Beautiful: It's time, Daphne, just kiss the man!

On The Bold and the Beautiful, two things this week stood out to me as moments I could write about. The first of these is this: We returned to the original plan for Operation Carter Walton. When the idea was first floated that Daphne Rose would seduce Carter, Hope would find out and be shattered, and all would be righted with Carter and the Forresters, I was skeptical. I mean, it all sounded great, but how would that be executed? As it turned out, the best way forward was what made the most sense and was what Daphne did. Trying to appeal to Carter's better self was their key way in, especially with Brooke in his ear as well with more of the “This isn't you, Carter. We are both missing people we love right now.” I swore that if one more person said, “You're a gooooooood man,” I was going to be physically ill.

Well, the week that was on The Bold and the Beautiful didn't help me keep my lunch down, but Carter was so worn down by these comments and moments of self-reflection, especially after seeing Ridge for the first time and getting to hug it out with his bestie again. They were just one sentence from being back to downing beers, shooting pool together, and bantering about tight shirts and stupid haircuts. It didn't go that way, but boy, were we close. I thought Carter was on the ropes here; he didn't cave in and give the company back, but now was the time to strike. Daphne returned to the original goal and started stroking Carter's ego and his chest. Then they leaned in and kissed, a proper long kiss, not a mom kissing ya goodnight kind of kiss. It was long enough, in fact, to give Hope time to skip over like Little Red Riding Hood and land on the little x on the floor — the mark her mom had put there as the best spot in the building from which to eavesdrop. Hope gazed in and saw her man tongue wrestling with the exalted nose of Paris.

Hope had just come from telling Zende that the connection between Carter and Daphne was terrific, and they even finish each other's sentences. Isn't that cute? No, Hope, it’s alarming. Anyway, Hope arrived at her mark, and Carter and Daphne embraced and kissed. They kissed a good while, and Hope drew the door shut a little to hide herself but stayed watching before taking a step back to catch her breath. There was no outrage; she didn't barge into the room and call them out. There simply was no reaction other than what I’m going to call a pause to think. That's the pause of her realizing she didn't, in fact, love the man, but he sure made a good ally in getting what she wanted. Now, her thoughts are turning to what she wants next and how she can use what she just saw to her advantage. If I'm wrong, why wasn't she at least angry, hurt, or upset?

This coming week is going to be interesting. I know I said that last time, and it's starting to feel like “The check is in the mail.” But bear with me. Carter, welp, it's best just to pull the ejection handle, buddy. This one is crashing, but Ridge can help if you let him. Please, enough of the coup, fly the coop, regroup, and give Ridge the scoop before it turns to poop.

A change is coming, maybe a storm too

The other thing that stood out on The Bold and the Beautiful was this: Steffy just can't catch a break. She’s taken a beating, emotionally, that is. Luna is her husband's daughter! That crazy, conniving little minx is Finn's daughter, but wait til Steffy finds out that she’s not securely locked up (she should be incarcerated for life, key melted down into a sword-shaped trinket on a necklace). What an emotional roller coaster of a ride! And damn Finn, we know it’s not your fault, you can’t do anything about it now…except, don’t you dare repeat the crap you did with Sheila. If he defends Luna and does the poor innocent girl thing omg, Ridge will ensure that he needs to call Liberty Biberty.

Next week, Ridge will put two and two together about Luna and Finn. And Steffy has every reason to have a strong reaction; she went through it all before with Finn saying, “But she’s my mom.” Ok, Finn, YOUR MOTHER has tried to kill everyone on two soaps, no less. Anyone she missed, I'm thinking Luna has it handled. Finn better not try to make a connection with the girl that kidnapped his wife and caged her and with all intent left her to die there. This time, there is no room for that; Steffy wouldn't take that.

Except…spoiler…he does. Next week, Finn “will keep another secret from Steffy.” Damn it man, just stop. Finn won't tell Steffy that the scheming double murderer is not incarcerated at all but residing at the Spencer mansion. And that will bury them as a couple.

I have a word count to hit, so I'm going to talk about Remy, too

Ah, Remy. The human equivalent of a bad penny on The Bold and the Beautiful. As much as I can't believe that Luna is on house arrest and not in a cell, I cannot begin to fathom how Remy is walking free and has the audacity to ask for his old job back. Is his apartment still vacant, with Electra’s photos on the back of the door, or did they give them back? How is it that no one recognizes him? Shouldn’t the townsfolk gather in the town square with pitchforks? Can’t you see Remy running for his life over cobbled streets with an angry mob in hot pursuit? Makes you miss the good old days, eh. Remy, now apparently a Johnny-on-the-spot, got picked up by Bill as the man to fix his AC.

After arriving at the mansion and getting paid in advance five benjamins, he lingered about in the living room admiring the photos, and sure enough, Curious George, aka Luna, came in, and they talked about being a pair of ne'er-do-wells. And Luna got giddy at being recognized as one of L.A.'s most despised people. No mean feat, considering the current laundry list of others vying for the title. These two reprobates will make quite the pair; their blooming friendship spells trouble for poor Will and Electra. I'll say it: I don't like this storyline one bit. I'm over Luna and her act, and Remy the greased weasel needs to stay gone. Let's hope that this, too, is over fast.

Another week in the books and another week of drama on The Bold and the Beautiful. Did any of you catch all the happenings down in Atlanta on Beyond the Gates? That show is something — and right out of the gates. (Haha, see what I did there?). Five days in, and they already have a mystery/thriller worthy of Matlock and a crazed, violent woman in need of the attention of SVU or Criminal Minds.

Until next time, soap fans, be good, and if you can't be good, be safe; if you can't be safe, name it after me.

Wow, you made it all the way to the end? You deserve a prize!... Just kidding, leave a comment instead.
