Let's face it. Liam's death and dying story on The Bold and the Beautiful has been all wrong from the start, gets more wrong by the minute, and will likely play out all wrong when everything could have gone so right.
Liam vanishes and then reappears

It's hard to get into a deathbed plot when the character who is dying has been almost completely ignored for about a year and a half. Liam has popped in and out of B&B with what felt like little guest appearances, but hasn't had a real story since 2023.
Then, all of a sudden, he is back, and the man whom Finn had once called a "Little Puke" is the most amazing man and father who has ever stepped foot on Planet Earth. Finn can't stop singing his praises, and neither can anyone else. From Ridge and Taylor to Deacon and Brooke, Liam is now the man of the hour.
Except for Steffy and Finn, none of these other characters even know what happened to Liam, but he is on everyone's minds. The heapings of praise are not even organic, which makes all of this so unbelievable. All these people who haven't cared at all about Liam for close to two years are now his biggest fans. That's just problem number one with this story. Onto problem number two...
Liam's 'death' feels like deja vu

Didn't we already do this at the end of 2023 when Eric learned he was dying of a still-unnamed illness and didn't want anyone to know? He insisted that he had to win a fashion showdown, punctuated by a grand soiree. When he finally collapsed on his own living room floor, it was Finn and Bridget to the rescue.
Welp, here we go again, folks. Liam doesn't want anyone to know he was in the hospital, but will likely pass out on someone's floor again soon so that Finn and Bridget can once again come up with a miracle cure. And what luck! They are already on the case, which means Liam will be himself again by the end of May sweeps, right?
Liam has another daughter (and baby mama)

Hey, did someone forget about Hope here? She was Liam's last wife and the mother of his daughter, Beth. Why does Kelly only get special treatment? Shouldn't Beth wonder where her daddy is? At least Hope mentioned that she hadn't heard from Liam in days, which is unusual, but really, she should be told what is going on.
We get that this is Liam's choice, but why would he only choose for one baby mama to know the truth and not the other? How are Steffy and Kelly more important than Hope and Beth? Watching Liam dance with Kelly in Steffy's living room just fell flat because we felt bad for Beth. Sure, it wasn't her daddy-daughter dance night, but she does exist, as does her mother.
Speaking of Kelly and Liam's little dance, why the heck did Finn text that information to Steffy? One would think "Hey, your ex-husband and baby daddy is dying" warrants at least a phone call. We get that Finn didn't want Kelly to hear, but unless Steffy had her phone on speaker, Finn could have spoken the words and not typed them.
When you start a plot with this many holes and this much confusion, it just doesn't hit like it should. And that's a shame. While we are sure we will see a masterful performance by the always-amazing Scott Clifton, we feel we won't get the feels as this story plays out.
Finn and his mothers

At least Finn is an obedient boy...sometimes. Steffy will tell him that he has to save Liam, and he will go right to work trying to do just that. Just like Steffy has told him, he can't see Luna, so he hasn't. Li gave Finn the exact same orders. She doesn't care about Nozawa Power. She doesn't want Luna Nozawa anywhere near her precious son.
Oh, but Sheila does and Sheila will do anything to give Luna what she wants. So, of course, she had to annoy Finn. Watching her pop up at Finn's office every so often is actually fun because he wants absolutely nothing to do with her, but Sheila was excited and wanted to make sure Finn was also excited about their expanding family. Sheila has a mini-me, and she couldn't be happier.
Sheila Carter's dream come true

Sheila always seems to come out on top, and now her wildest fantasy has come true. She has a serial-killing granddaughter she can mold in her image,e and it's not even a hard task, as the apple very clearly doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to Luna and Sheila.
However, we have to ask ourselves if Luna might be more affected by Poppy's genes than Sheila's. We know Luna did some awful, awful things, but to see a mother cast aside her child like that is a little bone-chilling. The way Poppy talks about Luna is pretty gross and detached. Having a mother like Poppy does not excuse being a murderer, but we can see how Luna might be a bit messed up. With Sheila taking her under her wing, Luna doesn't stand a chance.
At least we got a food fight out of the event. Between Deacon and Sheila, nobody in this fictional version of Los Angeles is safe.
Our full circle moment

Remember how way back in the day, Hope was a pure-as-the-driven-snow virgin hopelessly in love with a young Liam Cooper (Spencer), and Steffy was the not-pure-as-the-driven-snow non-virgin who took one look at Liam when he rescued her from a bathtub drowning and decided she had to have him? You do? Well, we do, too. It's why we don't want to see it again.
Electra Forrester is pure and perfect. Luna Nozawa is far from it. And Will Spencer is right there in the middle. He will also likely have sex with Luna any day now. And another Liam is born? Yep, probably...
