Holy DNA, soap fans! This week on The Bold and the Beautiful, there's a whole lotta family tree shaking going on as Steffy received word that her former cousin-in-law and attempted killer, Luna, is actually her stepdaughter. And with this, Steffy realized that Luna's grandmother was none other than Sheila! Did it mean the poorly monikered Hayes (why did Steffy name her kid after her mom's abusive first husband?) had Sheila's psycho platelets running through his toddler veins?
Sheila got between James and Maggie after getting between the sheets on The Bold and the Beautiful

This is a fair question for Steffy to be asking...assuming Finn really is Sheila's son. Unlike Finn, who personally ran two DNA tests on himself and Luna to be sure of their biological connection, Finn and Sheila have never had such a test. We only know for sure that Jack and Sheila slept together; other than that, we've just been told that Sheila is Finn's mother, without the benefit of on-screen confirmation. However, that wasn't the case with Sheila's first baby, whose birth we witnessed in 1997! Let's go pre-Y2K and revisit the direct link between Sheila and Finn's supposed older sister!

To set the scene: in late 1996, the object of Sheila's always-twisted affection was James Warwick, her former shrink and captive (which is a whole 'nother story). Only problem was, James was set to marry Eric's one-time sister-in-law, Maggie Forrester. Well, wouldn't ya know, Sheila's BFF Mike (who came back to free her from prison in 2022 and is now serving time again himself) kidnapped Maggie and made it look like Maggie had run out on James, all to clear a path for Sheila. Despite Mike being madly in love with Sheila. It happens.
James got wasted and slept in Sheila's bed, but nothing happened...psych! Sheila added the something blue to Maggie's wedding with the news that she was carrying about-to-be-husband James' baby. But Maggie turned the tables on Sheila by marrying James anyway and moving Sheila in with them to control freak Sheila's pregnancy – the newly-married Warwicks had decided to adopt the bun in Sheila's oven, making Sheila the would-be surrogate of her own child.

Sheila gave birth to a girl, honoring her promise to give the infant up to James and Maggie and running off to Furnace Creek to be a waitress (musta been on her résumé when she initially got work at Il Giardino in 2017!). Sheila built a shrine to her child in her closet, much to the horror of roomie Amber Moore – that's right! It was Sheila who introduced Amber to us! Sheila soon decided she wanted her daughter back, who was now named Mary, and sicced Amber on the Warwicks as a babysitter so she could get intel that would best help her achieve her aim.
But Sheila needn't have gone to such trouble. Increasingly bothered by Maggie's caustic attitude toward Sheila, James left Maggie and decided to raise Mary with Sheila after all. Oh, joy! Except it was all a ruse to trick Sheila into appearing to be an unfit mother so Child Protective Services would restore Mary to the care of the original Warwicks. James got Sheila all the way to altar, but after the uber-Scottish ceremony, James felt so guilty that he 'fessed up to Sheila about everything, which inspired Sheila to jump off a building in her wedding dress. As you do.

Sheila and James entered into a legit marriage after she recovered, but when the psychiatry board booted James for impregnating and marrying a former patient, Sheila went bonkers again and took off with Mary — just not before shooting Stephanie for macking on her hubby. Really, Stephanie. You should have known better.
By 2002, the five-year-old-in-real-time Mary was SORASed deluxe and reintroduced to us as the barely-legal Erica, who had been living on the run with Sheila her whole life. Erica set her sights on Rick Forrester (remember him?), and the whole mess resulted in Sheila – accidentally, mind you – blowing a hole in both Taylor and Brooke. Should Taylor's heart issues of last year have been related to this nearly-fatal injury? Yes. Was it? No.

Mary was last mentioned in 2017 when Sheila was blackmailing guest appearance James into declaring her still injured enough from catfighting Quinn that Sheila needed to stay in Eric's guest room. Now, you might be saying – “does any of this mean Mary/Erica is Sheila's child with James? You didn't say they had a paternity test.” No, they didn't, but James was the only guy Sheila was intimate with ahead of her pregnancy. Unless Mike is holding out.
All we have are Jack and Sheila's word for it about Finn. Come to think of it, when could Finn have been conceived, anyway? Not during Sheila's 1990-1998 Y&R/B&B runs (remember, it was Sheila losing Scott's baby that initially made her cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs). I suppose it could have been sometime while fugitive Sheila moved around between 1998 and 2002. It's just that she was making a point of staying as far away from Los Angeles as she could then.

And don't talk to me about Sheila's “other” children. I'm sorry, but Ryder and Daisy turning up on Y&R and simply saying Sheila was their mom offered no substantiation – and as for Diana, the baby Sheila waved around as a human shield in South America in 2003, naming Massimo Marone the daddy? That could have been anybody's kid – belonging to a henchman, probably. Hopefully with DNA tests on his mind, Finn will run one between himself and Sheila – if anything, to make absolutely sure Hayes is free of whackjob corpuscles and put Steffy's mind at ease – and then we can wipe that question mark off the whiteboard.
