At Big Bear, Donna apologized to Owen for nixing his advances. She explained that she was married and that she loved her husband. Donna thanked Own for saving her. She explained that she felt Eric would eventually recover. Donna relayed to Owen that Eric had told her to move on with her life if something happened to him. Owen and Donna observed the stars outside. Donna interpreted a shooting start as a message from Eric, which said, "Life is meant to be lived, to be loved." Donna kissed Owen.

Stephanie informed Felicia, Thorne, Ridge, Bridget, Rick, and Taylor that Pam, who was mentally ill, had poisoned Eric and caused his heart attack. Ridge and Rick said that they were shocked by Pam's behavior, and labeled her a murderer. Stephanie stated that since Pam was mentally ill that they should show compassion. Stephanie said that she felt guilty over what Pam did to Eric. She felt guilty for not realizing that Pam had not taken her medication for three months. Taylor supported what Stephanie had already explained. Taylor further explained that although Pam's mental illness was not an excuse, she needed compassion. Taylor and Stephanie explained that Pam poisoned Eric and tried to frame Donna for her act. They explained that because she loved Stephanie, she wanted to get back at Eric and Donna for hurting Stephanie.

At the hospital, Dr. Patrick discouraged Katie from carrying her baby to term. He cautioned her that she could lose her life. Katie told Dr. Patrick that she would do whatever was best for her baby. As Nick arrived, he asked Dr. Patrick about Katie.

He told Nick that it was possible that Katie would not survive the pregnancy. Katie told Nick to ignore Dr. Patrick's warning.

Katie reminded Nick that she had completed her first trimester of the pregnancy. She reminded him that it was significant because they decided that would be the point in time when they should inform Bridget of the pregnancy.

Nick and Katie decided to inform Bridget of Katie's pregnancy. Katie felt strongly that Bridget would gradually accept the truth. She also felt that Bridget would be raising the baby, as Katie would not live much longer. Nick became adamant with Katie that she would not die. Katie revealed that she promised herself she would live another six months, long enough to give birth. She asked Nick to accept her revelation. Katie voiced confidence in Nick, and acknowledged that he would raise their child with Bridget as the child's mother.

Stephanie went to the hospital and spoke to Eric. At his bedside, she apologized for Pam's behavior. Suddenly, Eric blinked his eyes as if he was going to open them.

Nick planned an evening on the Shady Marlin with Bridget and intended to break the news to her about Katie's pregnancy. Katie said that Bridget was going to be hurt by the news, and Nick said he knew she would be, but he planned to make it very clear to Bridget that he loved her in spite of Katie's unplanned pregnancy.

While aboard the Shady Marlin, Bridget lamented to Nick about the tragedy of her father having a heart attack and how it could have been avoided if their crazy Aunt Pam hadn't gone off her medication. Nick agreed and noted that most tragedies could be avoided. Bridget said in just an instant everything changed when Pam decided to turn right instead of left, one bad decision had set this all in motion. Nick said they needed to put it behind them, focus on the future, and move forward.

Nick asked Bridget if she wanted to go fishing. She said yes, and said she wished Eric could see them. Nick said he wished Eric were well enough to come along. Bridget mentioned that Eric expressed doubts about Bridget's remarriage to Nick. Nick said it was understandable, considering their past. They both agreed they had grown and had developed a real partnership.

Bridget thanked Nick for an evening at sea and said it was just the escape she had needed. Nick said it had been great, but they needed to come back to reality. Bridget asked him why he had gotten so serious all of a sudden. He was unable to spit it out.

Katie tried to break the news to Brooke, as well. She explained that the day Nick had taken her to Catalina when she thought she was dying, things had gotten out of hand and Katie and Nick made love. Brooke looked as though she was completely disgusted with her sister.

Brooke reminded Katie that she had warned her about Bridget and Nick's history and how badly Bridget had been hurt in the past. Katie attempted to explain, but Brooke gave her the "talk to the hand" gesture and said she knew all the justifications much too well-which was true considering Brooke was the one to break up Nick and Bridget's marriage the last time. Katie explained Nick was going to talk to Bridget that night and tell her they had slept together. Brooke suddenly realized Katie was pregnant with Nick's baby.

Stephanie sadly mentioned to Ridge that she could not believe it was her own sister Pam that had caused Eric's heart attack. Ridge said he could not believe it either. Stephanie said she didn't know how to come back after such a tragedy, and she actually felt sympathy for Donna. She finally realized Donna genuinely loved Eric and had been loyal to him throughout the ordeal.

Stephanie said she felt guilty because there must have been signs that Pam had gone off her medication, but Stephanie missed them. Ridge said the whole family missed them; no one realized she was off her medication until it was too late.

A coma specialist entered and said he was working on Eric's case in partnership with Dr. Patrick at Stephanie's request. Ridge asked Stephanie if Donna was aware of it, and Stephanie said no.

Owen said that Lt. Baker was not too happy about Owen stealing his squad car. Donna said if Owen hadn't done that, she would be dead. Owen said no one was more delighted than he was that he had been able to save her life. He suggested that she go soak in the hot tub and he offered to cook something for her.

Donna flashed back to a conversation she and Eric had right before his heart attack about his desire for her to move on with her life if anything ever happened to him. Owen came back and noticed Donna was lost in her thoughts. He said he understood that she was overwhelmed by everything that had happened and assured her he would not let anyone ever hurt her again.

Donna said she prayed the police would find Pam and lock her up for good. Owen agreed. Donna said Eric would not agree, he would insist that Pam got help, as he was a nicer person than Donna was. Owen encouraged Donna and said she was a better person than she gave herself credit for.

Donna said she had better get to the hospital to visit Eric, and Owen persuaded her to lie back down and relax. He assured her that Eric was in good hands.

At the same time, Stephanie sat by Eric's bedside and confessed to Eric that she had been praying for a miracle because she was totally unprepared to live a life without him. Eric's eyes fluttered, and then opened. He called out Donna's name, but she was not there. Stephanie let Eric know she was the one who was there. Eric said her name, "Stephanie," and she clutched his head to her chest and wept and whispered, "Everything is going to be all right."

by Pam

At the Forrester mansion, Donna and Owen continued their passionate clinch, but Donna told Owen that she was married to Eric, and she loved him. Owen said he understood, but he didn't want her to be lonely. She didn't get much of a chance as they continued making out. Donna interrupted to take off Owen's shirt and tell him that she wanted to remain faithful to Eric until he was gone. Owen told her he knew Eric would want Donna to move on.

At the hospital, Stephanie continued to hug an awakening Eric. She promised him she would tell the children and Donna that he was awake. She kissed him several times on the lips and told him how glad she was that he was alive. She acknowledged that he must be confused, and she told him that he'd had a heart attack, but he was getting better. Eric seemed unable to speak. Stephanie's phone rang. Ding-dong, Pam was calling. Stephanie begged her sister to tell her where she was, but Pam didn't fall for that. Pam told Stephanie she did everything for Stephanie, and that she was sorry that things went wrong, but it was all Donna's fault. Stephanie told Pam she would come and help her, but Pam told Stephanie she was fine, and she would always be nearby.

After Brooke had slapped Katie at Brooke's house, the two continued their confrontation as Brooke blabbered on about how Katie had hurt Bridget by sleeping with Nick and getting pregnant with his child. Katie told Brooke that she was confident that Bridget would be able to handle it. Katie knew it was wrong, but she refused to be sorry for what had happened. It was beautiful and she was carrying a new life even though it was high-risk. That perked Brooke's ears up, and Brooke asked how high-risk the pregnancy was. Katie told Brooke that there was a possibility that the pregnancy would be dangerous to her and the baby. Brooke softened a bit, and asked if Katie would be all right. Katie said she had made it through the first trimester, and that was a good sign. Both she and the baby were healthy. Brooke worried that this would send Bridget, who had already had a tragic life, into a tailspin.

On the Shady Marlin, Nick and Bridget sacked down for some romantic time. Bridget said she knew something was wrong, but she needed time alone with him. After a lovemaking session, Nick told Bridget he had something to tell her. He worried that even though he loved her, he was going to hurt her. He begged Bridget to understand how much he loved her. She said she did. Then, Nick told Bridget that when he and Katie went to Catalina on the Marlin, something happened and he had to tell her about it. Bridget looked uncomfortable.

At the Forrester mansion, the front door opened and a shadow walked in with a silhouette that looked a lot like Stephanie. Up the stairs, the shadow skulked to the master bedroom where the door opened and a half-naked Owen and loosely robed Donna were making out. Stephanie stood in the doorway, apparently unnoticed by anyone.

Back at the hospital, Stephanie returned and asked the nurse if Eric was still conscious, but the nurse said he had fallen asleep. Stephanie was disappointed. The nurse encouraged Stephanie, saying that any conscious time was a good sign, and that she should call the doctor. Stephanie was also angry at Donna, and promised Eric that she would take care of him. She regretted that she couldn't protect Eric from Pam, but she vowed to protect him from Donna. She promised that he would get well and come back to her and their family. She kissed him passionately on the lips and called Donna a bitch who wouldn't wait for him.
