Will The Bold and the Beautiful's Scott Clifton return to General Hospital?

On The Bold and the Beautiful, award-winning actor Scott Clifton’s Liam Spencer’s health crisis has fans worried they’ll not only lose the character, but the ability to enjoy the actor as well, leading many to wonder if he could return to General Hospital.

Given Liam’s (Scott Clifton) recent diagnosis on The Bold and the Beautiful, fans have been debating whether or not they could really lose the award-winning actor on their favorite soap. Clifton has played the role of William Spencer III since the character’s first appearance on the show in 2010. Since then, he has won four Emmy awards for the portrayal.

B&B fans have worried that this could be the end of the road for Liam, but others are holding out hope for a sudser miracle cure. In the meantime, one thing is certain: there will be a stellar performance from Scott Clifton.

B&B isn’t Clifton’s first soap; he played Schuler Joplin on One Life to Live from 2009 to 2010, and before that, he was Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital from 2003 to 2007 — a role that also garnered an Emmy award for the actor.

Almost twenty years later, some soap fans are wondering if Liam was to really leave The Bold and the Beautiful, would we see him make a return to General Hospital and play a more grown-up version of Dillon? Clifton weighed in during an interview with Soap Opera Digest. With a laugh, he said, “No. I am not at all thinking about General Hospital or any other show. I’m just thinking about doing the best job I can do telling this story. That is what is important to me. I just want to do right by this show and this story and and this storyteller — namely, Brad [Bell, B&B’s executive producer and head writer].”

As for Liam’s fate, Clifton wouldn’t confirm — or say whether or not he actually even knows how the storyline would end. “I’m really, really excited to tell this story, because I’ve never been entrusted with something this weighty before. And I’m really grateful to Brad for having enough faith in me to pull this off.”
