The Bold and the Beautiful: Ted King talks about Jack

On The Bold and the Beautiful, Ted King (Jack Finnegan) returned today, but what he found was his ex-wife, Li, on the warpath.

This week will be very telling for three characters: Poppy (Romy Park), Luna (Lisa Yamada), and Li (Naomi Matsuda). Li has done the bloodwork to reveal that the murdered Tom Starr is not the father. We know Luna meddled with the paternity test to try and dupe Bill into thinking he was the father, so Bill is ruled out, too. Ted King, who plays Jack, talked to TV Insider about his return to The Bold and the Beautiful and his part in this storyline.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Jack hit the road but he’s back

Ted King said his return to The Bold and the Beautiful was great timing. He received a call to renew his role as Jack Finnegan just as he’d wrapped up two projects in New York.

In his interview, King said, “I just finished shooting two projects in New York. One was a film directed by a friend of mine that I met on Oppenheimer and the other one was a new baseball television series. I was working there for about two months and [The] Bold and the Beautiful reached out and asked if I would do several shows for them in December. It was just perfect timing and a wonderful experience.”

King first took on the role of Jack back in 2021 and got rewarded for his talent by winning a Daytime Emmy. He has said that he really likes how B&B still finds ways to bring his character back. King enjoys the mystery of playing Jack as not a lot is known about him, so the directions that The Bold and the Beautiful could take his story has many possibilities.

So what brings Jack back to our screens? Ted said, “It’s exciting for me as an actor, and in this particular situation, it’s a complicated story involving his ex-wife and her sister and accusations about paternity.”

What am I walking into

Jack has been summoned to L.A. by his ex-wife, Li, for the first time in three years. But, this reunion isn’t going to be a pleasant glass of wine over dinner and light conversation and reconciliation like Jack thinks is ahead of him. The upcoming drama involves events that happened before the characters appeared on screen. King shared that there was a lot of figuring out for the back story, a part that he really enjoys.

King said that he loves the creative process of determining where the characters have been before we see them and how it can decide how to play the scene — and he loves the unpredictable nature of it. In this case, King revealed, Jack is completely blindsided, and there are some very “intense scenes.”
