Sean Kanan, also known as Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful, is extending his work in the industry once again. The actor is taking on the role of judging at a film festival this year.

Sean Kanan announced that he will be a judge at the 2025 Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF). The five-day event will be held this year from September 23rd to 28th. “Incredibly honored to be a judge @thebhfilmfest with @michele.kanan,” he wrote on Instagram. Sean’s wife, Michele Kanan, is a producer and writer; she and Sean were married in 2012.
Submissions to be judged will be accepted for the following categories: Feature Films, Shorts, Dramas, Comedies, Films By Women, LGBTQ, Documentaries, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Animation, Horror/Thriller, Faith-Based, Student Films, and Foreign Films. BIFF Screenings and live Q&As will be held at the AMC 16 Theaters, where audience members can interact with filmmakers.
BIFF panels and after-parties will meet and be held in Downtown Burbank establishments such as Urban Press Winery, Hilton Garden Inn, Inkwell Tavern, Hotel Burbank, and Kalaveras. The festival describes Burbank, California as the Media Capital of the World. It is the headquarters to more than a thousand entertainment and media companies, including Warner Bros., The Walt Disney Company, Cartoon Network Studios, Legendary, and Nickelodeon.
This is not the first time Kanan has been involved with the event. He has also been an honorable guest and presenter in the past.

BIFF also continues introducing new award categories to honor the talented craftspeople behind the scenes. The five-day festival includes 130+ film screenings, Q&As featuring celebrities and industry professionals, fabulous red-carpet receptions, audience awards, and informative panels.
Additionally, BIFF culminates with the Closing Night Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, which is the highlight of the festival. It shines a light on the unknown artists of today, helping them become the celebrated filmmakers of tomorrow.
