The Bold and the Beautiful's Forrester Re-Creations replicates the show's first episode

Today on The Bold and the Beautiful, the Forrester Creations fashion show began in what will be a multi-day event. But for long-time viewers, it was also a nod to where it all began.

On today’s episode of B&B, the show began with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) sorting through sketches in the design office. He glances quietly around the room at the couture dresses that have sprung from sketch pad to real life, and smiles to himself.

Ridge walks through a door, and as it opens, the sounds of silence disappear and are replaced with the buzz of anticipation. The room is filled with models, trying on their dresses, Eric (John McCook) is calling out instructions and requests, and last-minute touches are being put on the outfits before they hit the runway. The excitement is palpable, and Ridge stops to look as the original theme song plays in the background.

If you got a feeling of nostalgia watching the opening scene, there is a very good reason.

The first episode of The Bold and the Beautiful

The very first episode of The Bold and the Beautiful aired on March 23, 1987, the opening scene was very much like today’s show. There were some differences — Ridge was then played by Ronn Moss — but the recreation was similar enough for long time viewers to smile instantly.

Thirty-eight years later, John McCook and Katherine Kelly Lang are still on the show as Eric Forrester and Brooke Logan, as they were that very first episode. Currently in its 38th season, The Bold and the Beautiful is the sister show to CBS’s other staple soap, The Young and the Restless. Both shows were created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell; their son Bradley Bell is now B&B's executive producer and head writer. Their daughter, Lauralee Bell, was at the fashion show in today’s episode as well, as her character, Christine Williams, did a crossover from Y&R.

The hit CBS soap has maintained its status as one of the top daytime serials on TV and has international audiences as it airs in several languages and countries around the world.
