The Bold and the Beautiful comings and goings: 3 Forresters Out?

Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful have been wondering whether or not there will be a return of a character, why another has been noticeably absent, and if another is on her way out.

Is Thomas returning to The Bold and the Beautiful

No, it sure doesn’t look as though Matthew Atkinson is returning as Thomas Forrester to The Bold and the Beautiful anytime soon. Although the show hasn’t confirmed it either way (as they rarely, if ever, do), eagle-eyed fans noticed that on the new 2025 opening sequence to the show, he was noticeably absent from the line-up of photos.

Last seen, Thomas came to L.A. with Paris Buckingham (Diamond White). They, along with Thomas and Hope’s son, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri), were living in Paris, France. When Hope’s (Annika Noelle) line, Hope for the Future, was struggling most of 2024 and was under constant scrutiny for cancelation by Steffy — as recommended at the time by the company COO, Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) — many viewers wondered if Thomas would return to save it. As many noted, HFTF had its biggest successes when Thomas was the lead designer. However, the storyline threw us a curveball by having Hope fall for Carter instead.

The war was missing someone

During the flare-up of the Logan vs. Forrester war, fans were wondering why RJ (Joshua Hoffman) hadn’t yet weighed in on the issue. RJ should have been a key character in the storyline. He was a designer on Hope for the Future, and also the son of Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). Last seen with fresh designs in the CEO’s office, RJ just simply disappeared while the office’s drama amped up.

Not only did we not see RJ’s reaction to Hope’s firing, but he wasn’t around for the takeover or for the Christmas holidays. And now, Joshua Hoffman isn’t in the opening sequence photos, either.

Has Ivy not returned?

Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) appeared in L.A. last April and May for a couple of appearances as she was on a layover and squeezed in a lunch with Liam (Scott Clifton). The chemistry was hot — she told Liam she remembered what it was like to be with him after planting a long kiss on his lips, leaving him speechless and us wanting more. So, her return with Electra (Laneya Grace) seemed long-term.

Carter hired Ivy to rebuild the Forrester jewelry line as part of his global luxury brand idea. Eric had Ivy and Electra move into the Forrester mansion. All that was left was the inevitable: Liam gets the memo that Ivy’s moved back to town.

Not only has Liam been missing since the takeover (and the reveal that Hope was seeing Carter this whole time), but he’s yet to cross paths with Ivy, even at Il Giardino or in the halls of Forrester. You would think that Will (Crew Morrow) would have mentioned to his wingman that he got a girlfriend, and she arrived as a package deal with her cousin. But alas, no. And now Ivy is no longer showing in the opening sequence, either.
