On The Bold and the Beautiful, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) actually did what Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) didn’t think he would dare do: Ridge fired his best friend.

In an astounding showdown at Forrester Creations, the tension and animosity that had been brewing for weeks came to a head, and Ridge terminated his COO, lawyer, and friendship with Carter.

Carter and Hope (Annika Noelle) got romantically involved about a month ago. As they were still exploring if there was anything past physical attraction, they decided to keep their relationship a secret from friends, family, and coworkers. However, their passion couldn’t be contained, and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) walked in on them in an intimate and barely-clothed moment in the design office.

Brooke kept Carter and Hope’s secret, but their relationship quickly spiraled in several directions. When Hope tried to surprise Carter by wearing lingerie in the office, she was startled to find Finn (Tanner Novlan) at the desk instead. She tripped and landed on him, only to be caught in a compromising position by Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and ultimately fired.

Carter immediately campaigned for Hope’s job and her line, Hope for the Future, to be reinstated at Forrester but was denied every time. At the office, Carter’s imploring quickly turned to demands while he privately professed his love for Hope and his undying dedication and loyalty to her.

Ridge and Steffy couldn’t understand the change in Carter and why he had lost sight of the company’s needs. They didn’t know that Carter and Hope had devised a plan to use LLC papers to take over the company.

The planned takeover was bad enough, but when Ridge told Carter he knew of his attempted coup, the confrontation hit a point of no return. Cemented in his argument that there was a Logan vs. Forrester war that he was determined to win on behalf of all Logans past and present, Carter went too far by bringing up Ridge’s deceased mother.

Ridge had issued Carter an ultimatum: Choose forgiveness and his career or choose Hope. Carter fully hitched his wagon to the Hope train and said he wasn't going to leave ”the woman he loves.” But Carter had taken things a step too far when he began comparing the situation to Stephanie Forrester’s distaste for the Logans.

He challenged Ridge, saying he wasn’t going to leave Hope or do as Ridge said, and asked what Ridge was going to do about it. Ridge fired Carter, kicked him out, and told him he was to never step foot back in the building.

What happens now?

Hope and Carter became romantically involved and started the process of torpedoing their careers in a spectacular fashion, which was their own choice. Had Ridge known that they were spending most of their time locking lips outside of the office rather than in it actually working, Carter may have been fired earlier.

As Ridge told Brooke, they had other choices. Carter and Hope could have found work elsewhere if they weren’t happy at Forrester, but instead chose to try to take over the company.

But if this is how vengeful Carter was when he had a job, we can only imagine what he will do without one. Fueled by rage, he is likely to be determined to make Ridge pay. And, then, there’s the issue of the LLC papers still in Carter’s possession.

Carter could still file the paperwork and follow through with the takeover. While this might not be doable in the real world, it is his most likely next step in getting revenge on the Forresters.

We also aren’t clear why Carter feels so emboldened — unless he has support coming from another source. Time will tell if Justin is actually lending his legal advice to help Ridge or if Justin (Aaron D. Spears) is actually on TeamLogan.

While there has been no report of Lawrence Saint-Victor leaving the show as an actor, he has been part of the writing team for a few years. Given how quickly Carter and Hope’s relationship has escalated their lives to complete chaos, we’re looking forward to finding out what could possibly happen next.
