Lisa Yamada won't say Luna's reformed on The Bold and the Beautiful

When fans of The Bold and the Beautiful saw Luna Nozawa, she was swapping places with her mom in a prison cell and seemed to be gone for good. Or, rather, for evil.

However, Luna came back with a ‘get out of jail free card’ handed to her by none other than Dollar Bill Spencer, and she’s been living the high life ever since. The actress who plays her, Lisa Yamada, gives viewers a clue as to what they can expect to see next.

When The Bold and the Beautiful wrote a murder mystery last summer, suspicions and accusations ranged from Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) to Justin Barber (Aaron D. Spears). Little did anyone know — including actress Lisa Yamada — that her character, Luna Nozawa, was the one who knocked off two men and was about to have a third victim.

Yamada told Soap Opera Digest that Luna had been a “good girl” for so long that she thought she wasn’t an option as the murderer. She received her script one day and realized Luna had been guilty the whole time.

The real Luna-tic

Yamada said she enjoyed Luna’s dark side and noted, “I think Luna is so psychotic that she found Steffy begging for her life funny. That was super-fun, and Jacqui [MacInnes Wood, Steffy] is like the best scene partner ever. We had a lot of fun on set, as well.”

Luna had gone all in. She killed two men, and then she drugged, kidnapped, and caged her cousin Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) wife, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Now, she is trying to appear remorseful and hoping for redemption.

Yamada recalls having a conversation with executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell and wondered how Luna could possibly come back from all of the crimes she had committed. Bell assured her that there was always a way, and they weren’t done with her yet. Yamada couldn’t figure out how they could possibly write her redemption arc, and she was “really surprised” when Luna got out of jail.

“The special effects makeup of me being bruised and bloody was so much fun. I’ve had a lot of firsts on this show, and the material I’m getting — I’m just so excited to come to work every day,” Yamada added.

Yamada wasn’t willing to guarantee that Luna was no longer crazy and “in her redemption era,” noting, “I definitely think there’s a little bit of crazy to her still, and that’s what makes her fun. We play around with, like, “Is she fully manipulating the situation and playing the victim, or is she actually remorseful?”

While no one yet knows that Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) made a deal for Luna to serve her term with an ankle bracelet at his mansion, Luna doesn’t know a big secret, either: Finn isn’t her cousin, he’s her father.

Viewers know that revelation is going to hit several people hard, especially Steffy. However, Yamada can’t wait. “Jacqui is such a powerhouse, I’m always excited and down to have scenes with her, and I’m also excited to explore what the Finnegan/Nozawa dynamic is now. This is a messy web, and I’m excited to explore it,” Yamada shared.
