This week on The Bold and the Beautiful, Poppy has unnecessary humility while Hope has none, and Steffy is a medical miracle.

Girl gone wild

The week started with the news of Steffy’s kidnapping and rescue being reiterated in nearly every conversation. The main takeaway was that everyone, including Hope, was happy about Steffy’s safe return, while Poppy blamed herself for Luna’s lunacy.

Someone must have told Poppy that Luna blamed being a murderer on her mom’s poor parenting because Poppy repeated that theory to everyone who listened. Unsurprisingly, Li was the only person who didn’t tell Poppy she was wrong.

R.J. gets his groove back

At the Forrester mansion, family and friends gathered to celebrate Steffy’s latest brush with death. Last week, R.J. lost his sense of all-knowing wisdom. Luckily, he recovered and returned to being involved in every conversation, warranted or not.

The party was supposed to be about Steffy, but R.J. kept lamenting that he didn’t know Luna was a murderer. He forgot to read the room—everyone there knew Luna and worked with her but didn’t know that fun fact about her, either.

When Steffy mentioned that Finn is a doctor, and he gave her a clean bill of health, R.J. questioned, “Really, Finn? Is that true?” It's hard to say if he was calling Steffy a liar or questioning Finn as a doctor.

Eric tried having a tender moment with his granddaughter, but R.J. pouted again about how he wished he could have noticed the love of his life was a psycho killer, so everyone turned to comfort him instead. Steffy let him have the spotlight and said she was returning to work in the morning, anyway.

Zende finds out he had a one-night stand

Steffy told Zende—in front of Brooke and R.J.—that Luna confessed to more than the murders. Zende wasn’t sure how to react when he found out that Luna had actually wanted to make love to him, but Brooke and R.J. apologized, and they all hugged it out.

I know this isn’t the first time they did the “Oh, lookie here, I’ve taken an aspirin and don’t know who I’m sleeping with” storyline, but can we forget that happened and give Zende some material to work with? They could set him up with Hope or bring in someone new, or he could create his own line to replace (or save) Hope for the Future.

Poppy had a busy week

Poppy and Bill skipped the party and talked about Poppy’s parenting (or lack thereof) and how the daughter they never had changed their lives. This was actually a nice conversation, they discussed a lot and parted kindly.

Poppy spent the week being humble and apologetic. She even thanked Katie and thought Katie had “graciously” accepted Poppy and Luna in Bill’s life. Sure, Katie apologized for doubting Poppy, but she conveniently didn’t mention her rage or the research she did trying to pin the murders on Poppy.

You knew Poppy was hurting when she forgot a lifetime of Li’s insults. Poppy thought Li wanted to spend quality time with her sister, but when Li talked to Finn about it, she was already dissing her sister again behind her back.

Steffy tries to put Hope in her place

Brooke kept warning Hope to stop thinking about kissing Finn and focus on her work, but Hope just couldn’t.

Hope couldn’t believe it when Steffy lectured her about kissing Finn. Hope complained to Brooke and said she didn’t regret kissing Finn if that’s how Steffy was going to act. Huh? Even Brooke couldn’t believe the audacity. Okay, I know what you’re going to say. Steffy’s been doing this type of thing for years, and you can list all the guys that Hope had first, and Steffy intervened. But this is Hope we’re talking about, the woman who insists she is not her mother—but apparently is.

No hope for the future

Hope should have taken Brooke’s advice and spent her time at the office, focusing on HFTF. Just as she got tired of unsolicited advice from her mom about chasing married men, Steffy summoned Hope to Eric’s office.

Now, I know this office has been used for everything like even private fashion shows, but for once, could a meeting be held by the upper management at Forrester without the presence of people who do not need to be there? Or, in this case, people who don’t even work there?

Having Taylor and Finn at a director’s meeting can’t be justified, especially if it’s to cut Hope’s line. Obviously, it’s to embarrass Hope and make Steffy look cruel. Still, Ridge and Carter went along with it—not to mention Finn and Taylor could have said no to the front-row seat for the show. Really, any one of them saying that it was inappropriate would’ve sufficed.

That said, Brooke cracked me up when she questioned their attendance by wondering if Forrester had a line of scrubs or straitjackets.

One small, happy family

Liam checked in on Bill and questioned Bill's feelings for Poppy, while Will did the same with Katie. Later, Will and Liam had lunch, and Will said he would be fine if his parents reunited as long as Bill treated Katie right. I know he hasn’t had a storyline yet to show his full abilities, but I like the new Will. He’s got a genuine likeability factor so far (I am so tempted to compare him to a young Joshua Morrow, but I’m not going to do it; this kid is great in his own right so far).

Meanwhile, Bill and Katie inevitably had ”that” conversation—the one where he tells her that he’s always cared and implies just enough hope to let her fantasize about being together, but not quite enough to make it happen. Yet. Maybe.

What happens next?

Since “the numbers” are what are putting HFTF at risk, should Hope set her sights on the man who keeps score of her sales? If she played her cards right, she might be able to get Carter to fudge the numbers a little to save her line. Would we want to see a Hope and Carter pairing? What would we even call them…Harter? Cope? Hopter? Carpe?

And do we want Bill and Katie back together? Or are we rooting for Poppy and Bill to have another chance? Leave your thoughts in the comments, if you’re not too busy pondering if Ridge should be with Taylor or Brooke.

Until next time!
