In Finn’s office, Finn told his mother the strange way Luna had been behaving around Bill. It had been as if she wanted to be the new woman in his life. Li gave Finn a "come on" look. Finn was persistent, saying two men were dead, and if Poppy hadn’t done it... He added that Steffy had been last seen at Luna’s home, and his gut said Luna was involved in Steffy’s disappearance.
Li said they were talking about his cousin, but Finn thought Luna was no longer the same person. He wasn’t turning on Luna, but he wasn’t turning a blind eye, either, if Luna could be involved in Steffy’s disappearance. Li didn’t get it. He told her that what Luna had done would blow her mind. “She kissed him. Luna kissed Bill,” Finn revealed.
Scoffing, Li asked who’d told Finn. Finn said it had been Bill, and it had happened twice. Finn reported Bill’s belief that Luna had been acting out. Li didn’t think it made Luna a kidnapper and murderer. Finn didn’t want to believe it, either, but Luna had changed. Li asked if Luna had become a killer who’d frame her mother for murder. Finn insisted that the only other person who had anything to gain from the faked paternity tests and murders was Luna.
Li couldn’t fathom what Finn was suggestng about Luna or what it had to do with Steffy. Finn revealed that he’d found Steffy’s phone at Bill’s house, where Luna lived. Li said Steffy wouldn’t be without the device in case the kids needed her. Finn said Steffy would retrieve it—if she could.

Finn remarked that Luna was staying at Bill’s because her old apartment was deserted, according to Bill. Li didn’t know why Luna had told Bill that, and Li said a lot of Luna and Poppy's stuff was still at the apartment. Li didn’t know what was going on but proffered that Luna had been with R.J. the night Tom Starr had died. Li had talked to Luna about that.
Finn, who didn’t trust anything Luna said anymore, left to talk to Steffy’s family—R.J. in particular.
At Bill’s house, R.J. arrived to see if Bill could give him some insight into what was going on with Luna. Bill asked what that meant. R.J. revealed that he barely saw her anymore, not even at work. Bill replied that she had a lot going on. R.J. figured it might be more going on than she’d told him, and instead of turning to him for support, she’d been keeping her distance.
Bill recommended that R.J. not read a lot into it, but R.J. persisted, saying Luna hadn’t been acting like herself at all. Bill nodded, and R.J. asked if Bill had noticed it, too. Bill stated that Luna had become very confused after the second paternity test. He was trying to help her, but it was complicated. R.J. asked about getting Luna professional help.
Bill said he’d offered it, but Luna was still processing things. He figured she could use some good news from the police about her mother. R.J. didn’t think Bill believed it would happen. Bill said he wanted to believe in Poppy, but it would be hard to forgive it if she’d actually killed Hollis and Tom to protect her paternity secret. R.J. wasn’t sure Luna could forgive it, either.
Bill said Poppy would go away for life, but he and R.J. had to help Luna continue to live her life. R.J. wanted to but said she’d given him the kiss-off. Bill thought of Luna kissing him. Bill hoped it wasn’t true because she needed R.J. R.J. was scared for Luna and suspected Bill was, too.
In the design office later, R.J. was alone when Finn arrived. Finn informed R.J. that he’d found Steffy’s cell phone at Bill’s house, and Finn needed information about Luna. R.J. didn’t know what to tell Finn and said it was as if he hardly knew Luna anymore. Finn replied that R.J. might not. None of them did. R.J. asked what Finn was saying. Finn asked if R.J. had been with Luna the night that Tom Starr had been murdered.
R.J. recalled that he and Luna had been together at work. She’d been ecstatic about Bill adopting her. Finn asked if the two had left work together. R.J. recalled that they’d been working, and Luna had left for an appointment. He hadn’t seen her the rest of the night. R.J. asked why Finn was inquiring about that. Finn said someone else had a motive to kill Tom and Hollis besides Poppy.
R.J. asked who. Finn said Tom and Hollis had learned that Luna wasn’t Bill’s daughter. Poppy was in jail, and Luna was right where she wanted to be with Bill. R.J. looked confused. Finn knew it was hard to accept, but Steffy was missing. Finn revealed that he’d just told Taylor and Ridge that Steffy had never made it to the retreat she’d reserved. Finn didn’t know how or why, but he believed that Luna had killed the men and abducted Steffy. R.J. was aghast. Finn said the only one who could lead him to Steffy was Luna.
At the apartment, Luna told Steffy that it hadn’t had to be that way, but Steffy had seen Luna kiss Bill. Steffy replied that Luna had thought Bill was her father. Luna reminded Steffy that Luna had known all along that he hadn’t really been her father. Steffy stated that Luna had drugged and killed her real father and Hollis. Luna stated that it had been to eliminate a big problem, but then another big problem had cropped up—a new paternity test.
Steffy said Luna had tried to seduce Bill after the new test had revealed the truth about her paternity, but tactics like that wouldn’t work with Bill. Luna suspected a different outcome if she was patient, and if she played her cards right, she’d keep her spot in Bill’s life.
Noting that Steffy was growing weaker, Luna offered Steffy food and water. Steffy refused. She asked if Luna would really do that to her mother. Steffy assumed it was difficult for Luna, and Poppy hadn’t given her daughter a foundation. Luna’s childhood had been lost. Steffy understood why Luna wanted to hold onto Bill and that lifestyle, but harming people wasn’t who Luna was. Steffy begged Luna to let her out of the cage. Steffy promised to say that Luna had been an innocent young girl who’d lost her way.
Steffy asked Luna to think about other people, like Finn and R.J. Steffy said her kids just wanted their mom back. She said she’d help Luna if Luna let her go. Steffy promised that she and Finn wouldn’t abandon Luna. Luna thought about it but said, “Not happening.”
Luna accused Steffy of lying and using her like Poppy had. Steffy said she wasn’t Poppy, but Luna believed that Steffy only wanted to help herself and would promise anything to get out of there. Luna walked out of the apartment, and Steffy fell to the floor, sobbing.
Later, Luna arrived at the design office. As soon as she closed the door, she heard Finn greet her. She asked what he was doing there. “Waiting for you,” he responded.
